2022 Rankings Update: Summer Standouts

Prep Hoops Colorado recently updated its class of 2022 rankings, and this is one of our favorite classes as it is full of gym rats who want to get better, and there will continue to be shifts made to this class.

This is a class that we have seen the most of with tournaments, private workouts, underground runs, and plenty of BallerTV.

Let’s take a look at some players that we saw a few times but did not expect them to have the summer that they did. Here are standouts that used the summer to jump onto our radars.

[player_tooltip player_id="618878" first="Derik" last="Pranger"] – Arapahoe

Pranger was a valuable piece to Arapahoe in only his junior season, and with the two leading scorers graduating, he will be the main guy for the Warriors this season. Pranger will undoubtedly be the team’s leading scorer as he is a scorer in every sense, and he showcased that all summer. Prange is a 6’7 gunslinger that, if he gets an open look, will let it fly. Pranger consistently shot the 3-ball this summer and also got into the paint for baskets. He moves without the ball, finds holes in the defense, and can score in bunches. He has a high ceiling if it all comes together. He will have to progress as a defender and playmaker, but if you need a basket and player to make it happen, then he is the guy. Excited to see what Pranger turns into in a year or two.

 [player_tooltip player_id="918907" first="Coby" last="Jimenez"] – Horizon

Jiminez is a versatile player that plays the right way and at his own pace. He is a high IQ do-it-all combo guard that can also step out on the wing. Jiminez is a playmaker that excels with the ball in his hands and also can play off of the ball as well. He puts the ball on the floor, hits the 3-ball consistently, and makes the extra pass. This summer, he was one of the weapons for a talented Colorado Roughriders squad and showed up at every event. He scored, defended multiple positions, crashed the board, and even had a stint at point guard, which showcases his all-around game. For Horizon, he will be pushed into a situation where it will take the whole team to fill gaps left by graduation and transfers. He will surely progress in every category and is a glue guy to build around. I like Coby’s game and am excited to see how he continues to grow.

[player_tooltip player_id="618888" first="Tabor" last="Robison"] – Horizon

Robinson is another player that shined this summer on the Colorado Roughriders team and proved that he belongs. He defended other teams’ top guards, played above his size, and showcased a toughness that the team rallied behind. Robinson got into a rhythm to close out the summer as he started to score the ball. He was hitting his jumper, getting to the rim and finishing and taking care of the ball. Robinson got the team in their sets and kept everyone happy while finding his own, and that’s the making of a solid point guard. He also was hitting big shots when the team needed it and will be an essential piece for Horizon this year, most likely as the primary ball-handler. He had a solid summer and is a player to watch moving forward.

[player_tooltip player_id="618865" first="Kameron" last="Goodrich"] – Broomfield

Goodrich makes the transfer over from Holy Family and, after a season of playing well on JV, is finally able to showcase what he has. He played this summer for Denver Rage and stood out. Goodrich got a bit bigger and stronger, and with that, his game developed. He is hitting shots on the perimeter, overpowering smaller defenders, and getting to his spots on offense. On defense, Goodrich is able to defend both guards and also out on the wing with his strength and defends without fouling. He is a gym rat that wants to get better, puts in the time in the gym to work on flaws, and is going to be a player to watch this season. I expect a big season for him.

[player_tooltip player_id="1019152" first="Landen" last="Dvorsky"] -- Liberty

Dvorsky was one of my favorite watches this summer as he managed to stand out despite being surrounded by a talented bunch. He showcased a high IQ as a floor spacer that knew where to be. He hit outside shots and played within the flow of the offense, but where he really hurt opposing teams as a mid-range threat that made the right play. Dvorsky was an X-factor for Pluto Prospects that passed and screened away, made the correct cuts, and was doing the dirty work when needed. He boxed out, started the break, rotated the ball quickly, and whatever the team needed, and that is the type of player to build around. Last season for Liberty, he was on varsity and had a couple of good games but was not what I expect him to be in his junior season. I expect Dvorsky to be one of the improved candidates in the conference and will turn more heads. He went from a relatively unknown player to now making the rankings and on the radars. With a big season, he will surely rise. I liked what I saw from him this season.
