Underground run V happened this week, and it continues to get better and better. It was the highest number of prospects in the gym at once with some new players in the gym and elevated play by some of the returners. Here are some of the top wings on the day.

[player_tooltip player_id="1029180" first="Keegan" last="Phillips"] — Douglas County

Phillips continues to shine. He is a polished wing with a deadly jump shot. He plays hard at all times and doesn’t give up on plays. He continues to impress with his outside shot and hit multiple shots on the day. He works inside and out and uses his size to score on both. Phillips is a competitive finisher that is looking to score, so the defense keys in on him, but he whipped out the best pass of the day on a baseline skip to the open 3-pointer. Phillips is a stock booster that continues to progress each week, and he is a player that is playing his best ball as he is coming into his own.

[player_tooltip player_id="965744" first="Blakeley" last="Stoughton"] — Regis

Stoughton had a solid day as he does so many things that keep the offense moving and flowing. He moves without the ball and attacks when he gets it. Stoughton was one of the best finishers around the rim on the day as he gets on his strong hand and powers up. Stoughton finished in traffic with left-hand finishes and was hitting shots from outside as well. Offense comes easy to him, and he finishes with either hand. He looks to score when he has it, and he has perfect size for a wing.

[player_tooltip player_id="916958" first="Wade" last="Jones"] – Cheyenne Mountain

I enjoyed watching Jones play this week as he was more under control. He was not only looking to score every single possession but rather playing within the offense. Jones passes and cuts, set screens, and does not turn down open looks. He scored in transition and also did all of the scrappy plays. On defense is where he can become elite. He does not care who you are; he is going to make you work. Jones is defending all positions, he is physical, and he is changing the way that opposing players try and navigate around him.

[player_tooltip player_id="965755" first="Seth" last="Newton"] — Canon City

Newton is the perfect role player. He sets hard screens, he found opening holes in the defense, cuts and makes the extra pass. He played unselfishly on the day and did the small things that makes a team operate. He hit open 3-pointers, got out on the break for finishes, and made the defense pay. Newton has solid size and is not afraid to use his body. He boxes out on players and makes excellent outlet passes. He is a player that not many know about but is solid.
