The Pure Sweat Basketball Back 2 School Camp featured some of the top prospects from southern Illinois. Here we break down what prospects caught our eye on the final day in Pure Sweat Basketball Back 2 School Camp: Day 3 Standouts!

[player_tooltip player_id="863605" first="Justin" last="King"] (Mascoutah – 2022)

The Mascoutah 6’4” point guard was the top prospect at the event. The silky smooth floor general displayed a great passing feel on the final day. Got others involved in both the half court and transition. Pushes it off the defensive glass. King got to the rim himself several times. A lot of long term upside here.

[player_tooltip player_id="989273" first="Grant" last="Fridley"] (Trenton Wesclin – 2023)

This 6’1” rising sophomore point guard is a crisp lead guard that excels at getting in the lane and converting with runners. He had his floater game working for sure on this night. Works well in the pick/roll as a distributor and sees the floor in transition. Good decision maker with the ball.

[player_tooltip player_id="921069" first="Braden" last="Flanagan"] (Olney – 2021)

Flanagan is a plus three point shooter. That was shown by knocking down three of them in one of the short games. Tough lead guard that distributes and is a shot maker.

[player_tooltip player_id="996000" first="Eli" last="Downen"] (Carterville – 2021)

This 6’5” thick bodied power forward can flat out shoot the basketball. He had his feathery jumper on point drilling multiple corner threes along with one from the top of the key. Also mixed in several mid-range jumpers.

[player_tooltip player_id="921014" first="Nathan" last="Thompson"] (Effingham – 2021)

Thompson is an active 6’5” small forward. Rebounds very well on both ends getting put backs. Also is a quality thee point shooter hitting them at a nice clip all three nights.

[player_tooltip player_id="652797" first="Joe" last="Melton"] (Norris City Omaha Enfield – 2021)

The 6’7” post is a skilled big man that can stretch the floor with his shot. Drilled several threes and mid-range shots. Missed a few bunnies, but was good cleaning up his own misses for put backs. Solid rebounder that can take it off the defensive glass and push in the open floor.

[player_tooltip player_id="939049" first="Cade" last="Altadonna"] (Highland – 2023)

Altadonna is a crafty left handed rising sophomore point guard that can really score it. In this setting it was more his passing that stood out. Threw several excellent dishes in the half court for scores. Pesky defender as well.

Jaxon Goforth (Nashville – 2021)

This 6’5” four man from Nashville was active on the defensive end recording several blocked shots. Also had a few tough layups including one drive, jump stop, and conversion.

Wyatt Hamson (Hamilton County – 2023)

Hamson has good size for a sophomore at 6’5”. He is a thick post that showed some fundamental around the hoop and got on the offensive boards for a few put backs.

[player_tooltip player_id="863611" first="Chase" last="Travis"] (Olney – 2022)

Travis is a well-known rising junior prospect. At 6’5” with broad shoulders and long arms he has projectability moving forward. He was excellent in the up and down pickup games for scores in the open floor. Had a steal that he turned into a dunk. Crisp jump shot and brings some creativity off the bounce.

Dylan Harkins (Mt. Vernon – 2021)

Harkins opened our eyes with a strong event. The 5’9” point guard threw bullet passes and showed flair for dishing the rock. Couple nifty layups and hit a three on the final night.
