Day 1 2021 standout wings/forwards from the Pangos Best of Colorado League

<p>Monday night was Day I of the <strong>Pangos Best of Colorado League</strong> ran by Dinos Trigonis of CA. Here are some 2021 standout wings/forwards from the first day.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <h3 style="text-align: center;"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1029180" first="Keegan" last="Phillips"] – Douglas County</strong></h3> <p>Phillips first basket in the game was a putback dunk that let everyone know that he was there. He had two other dunks in the game as well, but the thing is Phillips is not all athleticism. The 6’6 wing/forward has a good feel for the game altogether and always seems to be where a play is being made. He moves without the ball as a good cutter, runs the floor, and fills lanes correctly, and his work on the glass also gets him rewarded. He also showed that he could shoot the ball as well as he stepped out and hit a 3-pointer. Phillips is having a stock boosting summer and is jumping on plenty of radars with how he is playing.</p> <h3 style="text-align: center;"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="759196" first="Taeshaud" last="Jackson"] – Dakota Ridge</strong></h3> <p>Even in a showcase setting, it was Jackson that was the point guard out on the floor, which creates quite an explosive dynamic for his team. Jackson began the day with a step-back 3-pointer, and then he did his typical bully-ball buckets. Jackson is an elite rebounder, and he starts the breaks with his speed. He is difficult to slow down once he gets into the frontcourt with a full head of steam, and being able to shoot the ball a bit as well will make an already dangerous player that much more treacherous. He finishes well at the rim, he uses his body, and he is also one of the best defenders in the state as well. He showed that he could play well at both ends of the floor, and I am expecting a blow-up game for him in the next couple of weeks.</p> <h3 style="text-align: center;"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="916953" first="Ty" last="Robinson"] – Eaglecrest</strong></h3> <p>Robinson was one of the best players to watch from Day 1. He showcased a polished game and took care of the basketball. He made great decisions with the ball in his hands and was a facilitator as well that scored when he decided to. Robinson is a physically gifted athlete the glides on the floor. He gets up with ease, applies himself defensively, and one of the highlight plays from the late game was an oop to him in which he threw it down with no regard for who was around him. Robinson has a balanced game and is a smooth playmaker that plays winning ball.</p> <h3 style="text-align: center;"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="916961" first="Greg" last="Gerhardt"] – Monarch</strong></h3> <p>Gerhardt was the tallest player in the event. But that did not stop him from letting it fly from deep. Gerhardt is not your typical back to the basket 6’10 big men that plays traditionally; he wants to space the floor. Gerhardt hit a couple of 3-pointers in the game and kept his team in the game. He also altered shots at the rim as he uses his length and put his arms straight up to make it tough for smaller guards. Once Gerhardt shows that he can go inside and out, it will be tough to keep him off of the floor as he spaces the floor with size.</p> <h3 style="text-align: center;"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="770427" first="Brayden" last="Carter"] – Mullen</strong></h3> <p>Carter is a traditional big that scores with ease. He gets to his spots where he is comfortable on the block and finishes. He also moves well without the ball and has great footwork, which makes it difficult for defenders to slow him down. In his first game, he did not play much, but every single time that he got on the floor, his team went on runs. He scored a couple of baskets at the high post, he tipped rebounds out to his teammates, and he has soft touch around the rim. Carter handles the ball well for a player with his size, and that only frees him up.</p>
