As Kuna will reclassify to 5A this season, the 4A will be an even tighter race to see who will ultimately be the best team and take home the district championship.
Caldwell Cougars: The Cougars finished the 2019-20 season with an overall record of 6-16 and a conference record of 5-13 under head coach Trent Harrison. Caldwell will look to improve this season with a young roster and lots of hard work this summer as they try to climb the district ladder and make a run at the district tournament. The Cougars will need to tighten up their defense this season in order to allow themselves opportunities to win. Watch for the Cougars to be led by Mason Martin, a point guard/shooting guard with. the ability to finish around the rim and a great looking jump shot from deep.
Columbia Wildcats: Columbia will return the majority of their roster this season as the school continues to gain momentum in the right direction. After finishing last season with an overall record of 6-16 and a conference record of 4-13, I would expect the Wildcats to make great strides this season. The Wildcats have established themselves as a solid ball club in the Treasure Valley and will look to compete for their spot in the district tournament in 2020-21. Look for Jack Keller, a sharp-shooter from the class of 2023, and Joseph Schulkins, a shifty point guard with a killer crossover and a deadly jumper off the dribble from anywhere, to lead the Wildcats.
Emmett Huskies: The Huskies struggled last season after compiling a record of 2-14 in conference and 3-16 overall in 2019-20. As Emmett attempts to rebuild this summer and compete for a shot at the district tournament, the team will look to their experienced roster and try to build on the good that they saw last season. The Huskies will look to win more games at home next season to give themselves a shot at a district tournament bid and the potential to string together a couple of days worth of wins to make a push at state.
Ridgevue Warhawks: One of the newest schools in the state of Idaho, Ridgevue struggled last season after finishing 5-17 overall and 3-14 in conference under head coach Neil Stutzman. The Warhawks graduated a handful of seniors that played big minutes and will look to their underclassmen with varsity experience to provide scoring and defense in the 2020-21 season. Ridgevue has shown glimpses of their ability to be a great program with a win over Vallivue last season, and they will look to build off of that win this season. Watch for Kolton McKie, a 6’0″ guard with a smooth stroke from the corner to lead the Warhawks.
