One Player To Watch: Matt Spears Matt Spears 6'7" | PF Arsenal Tech | 2022 State IN
Matt Spears Matt Spears 6'7" | PF Arsenal Tech | 2022 State IN is the top-ranked player on this team by a long shot and that is almost entirely due to his potential. At 6’6, Spears has the speed and athleticism to play either the 3 or the 4 positions. He uses his size to create, but he does need to develop his ball-handling a little bit more to do it consistently. All in all, Spears is a raw talent with a lot of potential, and if he can polish up his skills and put on a couple more pounds of muscle, he could be a top-level player at his position.
One Player We Need To See More: Burke Weldy Burke Weldy 6'0" | PG Carmel | 2022 IN
Burke Weldy Burke Weldy 6'0" | PG Carmel | 2022 IN is a true point guard in this day and age. He has really good ball-handling and passing ability and a consistent jump shot. His handling abilities allow him to play on ball quite a bit, but he also is good in catch-and-shoot situations. We need to see if he can put on a little bit more weight to allow him to get in the lane and create a little bit more. If he can do that, it will really take his game to the next level.
One Player That Should Surprise: Zach Reed Zach Reed 6'3" | PG Brebeuf Jesuit | 2022 IN
Zach Reed Zach Reed 6'3" | PG Brebeuf Jesuit | 2022 IN has the toughness and skill to be a solid combo guard. He uses his speed and strength very well which allows him to get into the lane to create and finish inside. His ball-handling skills aren’t quite at the level that they need to be in order to be the main ball handler for a team, but his shooting ability has continually improved. If he shoots the ball well this summer, Reed could surprise a lot of people.
