ECI Selects has a solid collection from all over North Dakota.
Here is a quick look
Guards: Jase Crockett, Jacob Hilgemann, Luke Wanzek, Logan Schaubert, Alex Barbot, Mason Love, Carter Renz
Crockett is one of the best guards in the 2021 class and will have the opportunity to showcase all of his talents on this team. He’s a tempo-setter on both ends of the floor, playing with great energy on the defensive end while possessing the ability to score from all three levels on the floor and facilitate.
Hilgemann is a cerebral combo guard who has the size and toughness to guard up in a lineup. He’s a solid passer and good without the ball offensively. He’s capable of scoring when he wants to as well.
Wanzek was a key rotation piece for Shiloh Christian in his junior year, helping the Skyhawks advance to the state tournament. He’s an athletic swingman who can shoot it from deep and defend at a high level.
Schaubert was a double-figure scorer for Bismarck as a junior, knocking down better than 37 percent of his 3-pointers (on 4.5 attempts per game) and he’ll have ample opportunity to show off that shooting range this summer.
Barbot and Love were key pieces for an improved Grand Forks Central team last year. Barbot is one of the better 3-point shooters in the EDC and does a good job playing in space and getting his shot from the perimeter. Love is a solid slasher who can create easy shots for his teammates.
Renz was the No. 2 guy for Linton/HMB during his junior year and has the size and athleticism to impact the game on both ends of the floor.
Forwards: Mason Gravseth, Khamani Steckler
This isn’t a real big team. That’s especially true in the frontcourt as Mason Gravseth and Khamani Steckler are the only two true forwards on the roster.
Gravseth is a high-energy, tough, solid interior player despite lacking elite height. He’s been one of the top forwards in the EDC each of the last two seasons, using his activity level, interior quickness and footwork to impact the game on both ends of the floor.
Steckler is an intriguing player because at 6-foot-7, he’s got the mobility and strength to defend the paint at a high level. On this team, if he runs the floor, sets solid screens and stays available around the rim, he’s going to have a lot of scoring opportunities.
