At 6-foot-3, Thomazin says he has added muscle in the offseason and is ready to bang inside as well as play on the perimeter. Last year, he averaged 23.4 points per game and made more than 130 3-pointers while shooting 41 percent from behind the arc. He also led the team in rebounding at 6.1 per game.
“My game is pretty simple … get a rebound, run the break, and pull up for 3.,” Thomazin said.
Also a standout on the baseball field, Thomazin said he focused on getting stronger throughout the summer.
“Instead of only having an outside game I will now have inside game to go along with that since I gained 25 pounds from last year,” he said.
Expectations are high for a Walnut Grove squad that advanced to the Missouri Class 1 state championship game last season.
“Everyone has high expectations of us and I believe we will accomplish them and that is making it all the way to state again,” Thomazin said. “The team I look forward to playing the most is probably Hartville because they are one of the best teams in their class and we are one of the best in our class. Will be a really good game.”
