SWFL Showcase Series Eye-Catchers, First Five

This past weekend a number of teams converged on Babcock Ranch High School, and took part in some high-level preseason basketball. Teams from across the state competed in this showcase as they gear up for the upcoming season. Let's now take a look at some of the prospects who had themselves an impressive weekend and really stood out.

A high-level prospect, Ratteree, is an extremely athletic guard who plays with great energy and emotion. He is a true 3-level scorer who is aggressive when attacking the rim, and also knocks down the 3-ball consistently. He is an elite defender who has the ability to guard multiple positions, and has a real knack for forcing steals and turning defense into offense. Ratteree is an excellent rebounder from the guard position, where he's quick off the floor and has tremendous leaping ability.

The newcomer from New York, Joyner, has made quite an impression in his new state so far, especially in SWFL. He is a very talented prospect who effects the game in a number of ways, both offensively and defensively. The 6'3" CG does an excellent job keeping his hands in the passing lanes, and is very effective in the transition game where he likes to get out and run. Joyner has elite handles and likes to play with the ball in his hands, and is very effective when he gets down hill and attacks the basket.

Bass-Bonner continues to turn heads with his explosive play here in SWFL. He seems to produce highlight reel dunks every time he suits up and is an exciting player to watch. He is very effective when attacking the rim, but also has a nice smooth, lefty stroke from outside, which he knocks down consistently. The 6'8" CG is an excellent shot blocker, and can guard any position on the floor. Bass-Bonner is primed for a huge senior season, and hopes to lead The Patriots into post season play.

An exceptional two-way player, Milne, is a smart player who is willing to do all the little things, and just wants to win. The 6'3" SG has great length and rebounds the ball very well from the guard position. He has the ability to guard multiple positions on defense, and has a real knack for forcing turnovers and turning defense into offense. Milne is an efficient scorer both inside and out, but really excels from behind the arc with his quick, high release.

Gonzalez looks to have a major roll for the Griffins this year. The freshman CG has already gained some varsity experience and looks to build on that in this just his freshman season. He is an excellent two-player who plays with great energy and emotion, and never takes a playoff. He is a tremendous defender who never backs down from an assignment and prides himself on that side of the ball. Gonzalez can score on all 3-levels, and is very aggressive attacking the basket, but also has an excellent mid-range game which he knocks down consistently.
