Saturday, October 17th I attended the 1st annual Dillon Brooks Invitational at Inspire Courts in Gilbert, AZ. Many AIA teams were in the building plus some local top prep teams mixed in with Grind Session teams from out of town. I ended up watching nearly 25 teams.

[player_tooltip player_id='3796118' first='Tyson' last='Alexander'] Red Mountain

An undersized point guard is very quick and he is trying to make players around him better. He will drive and kick it after he touches the paint and has some strength and a mini burst to get to the basket. He will score with threes off the catch and he is quick on the ball defensively.

[player_tooltip player_id='3796108' first='Steven' last='Brown'] Sunrise Mountain

A throwback real point guard is a neck up type of cerebral player. He processes the information quickly and he works well off of the pick and roll game and finds the teammate. He gets the ball out of his hands quickly and can score it with threes off the catch, quick drives and pull-ups.

[player_tooltip player_id='3796113' first='Kadon' last='Burns'] Red Mountain

A long scoring guard who is playing thru a minor injury showing his toughness. The sophomore has quicker hands to collect steals in the passing lanes with his longer arms, instincts and twitch. He will score it in transition or shoot it from the perimeter. Look for him to play more in the next couple years.

[player_tooltip player_id='3796466' first='Mehki' last='Carter'] Red Mountain

A long wing forward who can defend from inside and out. He will score with threes using a high arcing shot, transition scores, cuts off the ball and rip thrus. He is very active inside but can be a guard/wing. The Desert Ridge transfer will challenge players coming to the basket to alter or block their shot. He is another to look out for in the next few years.

[player_tooltip player_id='3793961' first='Isaac' last='Maskovich'] Sunrise Mountain

I have heard a lot about Isaac from Aaron Villa and he was spot on. He is a true combo guard who knows how to change speeds and has a high feel for the game. He will score with speed dribble drives and threes off the catch or pull with real range. Him and Brown are a tough tandem to deal with this season.

[player_tooltip player_id='3796120' first='Knowledge' last='Pearson'] Corona del Sol (Pictured)

A junior wing forward with some size, a little athleticism and skill. He will use his length in the passing lanes and collect steals which usually lead to layups. He will defend a few positions and score it with threes, mid-range jumpers and likes to drive it using his size and a burst.

[player_tooltip player_id='2243492' first='Dazon' last='Reid'] Sequoia Prep

A bigger combo guard from New York City. He can play and defend a few positions for them from the 1-3 with his feel, IQ and skill. He is a fluid mover with the ball in his hands and he can shoot it from the arc but gets downhill easily. He gets on the glass also as he is a quick second and third jumper.
