Boonville Pioneers | LG’s Open Gym Notes

Spent the afternoon at Boonville High School with one of the most experienced teams in the state this season looking to build off their 19-win season a year ago under second year Head Coach Jason Gansman. With four major returners at open gym and another currently playing football, the Pioneers will rely heavily on a talented senior class of returners plus a couple newcomers that expect to be impactful this season. Here are my notes from this afternoon's open gym session with the Boonville Pioneers:

Returners

6'3” 2027 Forward [player_tooltip player_id='3223793' first='Wyatt' last='Kuebler'] is a seemingly unknown piece for the Pioneers, but is an X-Factor this season. Skilled forward that does all the little things on the floor that don't necessarily show up on the state sheet. Big time rebound that will be huge for Boonville team that doesn't have a lot of size. Continuing to get better with his mobility becoming a more versatile defender. Offensively he's a floor spacer as a shooter off the catch. Showed today he's comfortable playing out of the mid post and putting it on the floor one or two bounces. Good footwork and a soft touch around the basket. Will have an impactful senior season with an expanded role.

The top prospect for the Boonville Pioneers is a four year varsity contributor and a Swiss Army Knife. 6'4” 2027 Wing [player_tooltip player_id='2140389' first='Jaxon' last='McKain'] is as versatile a prospect as there is in the area. He's the best downhill driver that uses his body to his advantage and is a big time finisher around the basket. Improving jump shot, but is still the major question mark in his game. Worked today out of the mid post and looked really good adding another element to his offensive game.

Dynamic 2027 Guard that had a big time spring and summer looking to jumpstart his senior season. 6'1” [player_tooltip player_id='2991363' first='Ian' last='Wahl'] is a hard nosed high energy guard that thrives in transition.
