The 2026 Prep Hoops Iowa Expo was filled to the brim with talented prospects from every corner of the state. Energy, hustle, and defense were not at a premium at this event. And that characteristic absolutely applied to Team 4. Let's get right into my evaluations of this talented group of prospects.

[player_tooltip player_id='2615533' first='Matthew' last='Ochalla'] displayed his versatile shot creation profile throughout this event. His vertical explosiveness and quick first step allowed him to dominate as a scorer. Deep range off the dribble pull-up threes looked effortless for him. And his fluid handle and shiftiness aided his production as a tough shot maker. This combined with his athletic tools made him an absolute chore for every defender that had to check him one on one, because his downhill threat was just as lethal as his pull-up jump shooting. He showed himself to be a physical and relentless downhill attacker, finishing layups through contact and around contests. While also exploding on the rim with powerful slams. Shaking defenders to create space and just charging past them was a recipe that most defenders couldn't suppress. Furthermore, his talent as a scorer allowed him to leverage his playmaking at a high level. Consistently, Matthew drew extra defenders and punished the defense with savvy reads. His passes in transition also stood out to me. He made some great hit-ahead passes that led to easy buckets for his squad. Lastly, he was a highly engaged defender that put his athletic tools and physicality to use. Locking up opponents, picking pockets, and jumping passing lanes for steals.

[player_tooltip player_id='3682194' first='Jordan' last='Perkins'] did a little bit of everything for his team at this event. One of my favorite aspects of his game was the rebounding he offered. Showcasing excellence at eating up space under the rim and battling in the trenches. Displaying constant hustle and tenacity, tipping missed shots in the air and collecting extra possessions for his team. Defense was another strength of his. He glued himself to his one-on-one matchups and moved stride for stride with them. Allowing zero space or driving lanes and forcing tough shots while swatting away potential buckets as well. Jordan's interior scoring was similarly dominant. He drove to the rim with ease and flaunted delicate touch on his finishes. Jordan's profile as a scorer hinges on his finesse. He creates advantageous angles for himself, finds open air space, and puts the ball in the hoop with high efficiency. I will say his vertical pop did surprise me. He finished a dunk in transition and got off the floor at high speeds. His expertise around the rim drew him many fouls as well, and he hit some off-the-catch threes. Widening the scope of his profile offensively.

[player_tooltip player_id='2821155' first='Mario' last='Basurto']'s game can only be described as extremely physical. Mario embraces contact at a high level, and this applies much utility to the strength he possesses as a player. He used his solid frame around the rim to dig his shoulders into defenders' chests and create space. And this power in the post fielded him many clear looks around the cup. Which were looks that he very rarely didn't convert on. However, when it comes to his around-the-rim scoring, he didn't just rely on pure brute force. Mario moves really fluidly in open space. He stepped around defenders with pretty Euro steps, finishing around contests at high speeds. Though, his sheer force and balance did make him an extremely productive rebounder. Gaining position around the rim just looked easy for him. So, he consistently left opponents off their spots where he was able to bring down missed shots.

[player_tooltip player_id='2923194' first='Wyatt' last='Farley'] was a high-impact sniper throughout this event. He was an absolute marksman from downtown. Both off the catch and off the bounce, he sprayed over defenders. His high and incredibly brief release made it extremely difficult for opponents to slow him down. And his shooting footwork, fluidity, and high arc allowed him to hit many deep-range shots at a high clip. It really looked like every defender's contests were in vain every time he decided to let it fly. This fluency as a shooter and soft touch translated to other areas of the court as well. Such as mid-range jumpers, floaters, and around-the-rim finishes. Which were no problem for Wyatt, even with defenders in his face. And because of his gravity as a shot maker, he was elite at finding open teammates and punishing rotating defenders. Displaying his basketball IQ and feel. His size, length, and lightness on his feet made him a problem on defense. He had great versatility at this event, guarding multiple possessions and providing excellent help defense.
