Time to Shine: Seniors on the Rise

As the season approaches, several seniors are preparing to step into bigger roles and become the players their teams depend on most. Some are proven shooters, some are emerging big men, and others are guards ready to take on more responsibility. What they all have in common is the opportunity to make a major impact when the lights are brightest. These are the players ready to take the next step, elevate their teams and make their presence known throughout the season. [player_tooltip player_id='3666678' first='Marcus' last='Bolden'] is one of those players who is put on the court to do one or two things. Yes, he is expected to defend, but that is not his job. Bolden is a shooter. When he gets in the game, just wait and it will happen. He can bust a game wide open when he gets going, and some coaches have suffered when they did not decide to plan for him. The more he shoots, the more he makes, and you can pick your poison when he is on the floor. He is a specialist and will be a key piece this season. Three words: Get the Shooter. [player_tooltip player_id='2675714' first='La'Tyruss' last='Guidry'] showed up out of nowhere and made his presence known in a major way. He was not on the PrepHoops radar, and in one season, he went from a small-town big man to a top player, notable prospect and committed next-level prospect. His development, exposure and recruitment have all taken off. This intentional big man could have the highest upside in this class, and his commitment to BPCC is one that could pay off for both the player and the program. Gifted with size, Guidry has continued to work on his game, and his best basketball is easily ahead of him. Look for the big man to continue growing his name and his game this upcoming season. [player_tooltip player_id='2471569' first='Konner' last='Mason'] is a serious next-level big man with several tools that translate to the next level. The 6-foot-7 power forward, weighing around 215 pounds, is a handful. He is strong, steady and consistent around the rim. Mason rebounds, blocks shots, scores around the basket and finishes above the rim. His athleticism allows him to run the floor with ease, while his size is valuable when setting picks and screens. He can be trusted with all the traditional big-man responsibilities and will be a major piece for Neville this upcoming season. Coaches looking for a traditional power forward will appreciate Mason and everything he brings to the floor. [player_tooltip player_id='2563361' first='Jamion' last='Davis'] is the resident shooter for Karr and a big reason for their success last season. A player who can stretch the floor always creates a matchup problem for opposing teams, and Davis does it with calm consistency. He never rushes his shot and has the patience to reset when defenders run him off the line. He is equally efficient from the mid-range and is not afraid to attack the basket. His pace is another skill that makes him difficult to guard. Whether he is shooting or facilitating, Davis stays locked in and looks to make the right play. Karr has all the weapons to make it back to the Top 28 and finish the job this time. Trey Dorty will be a player to watch this upcoming season for ASH. Last season, he played the role of a true point guard, playing alongside some high-flying weapons while holding back his own shot to facilitate the offense. This season, he will be asked to step into a more aggressive scoring role, and he can certainly fill it. Dorty is a confident guard with all the necessary skills for next-level success. Can he score? Yes, and he can do it with ease. Look for some big games from Dorty as ASH looks to make its way back to the Top 28. These seniors are entering the season with something to prove and bigger roles waiting for them. From shooters who can change a game in seconds to big men and guards ready to take on increased responsibility, each player brings a skill set that can make a difference. Now comes the opportunity to turn potential and past production into leadership, production and winning basketball. The stage is set, and these Senior Breakout Kings are ready to make their move.
