Spencer’s Standouts-Prep Hoops’ Freshman Showcase-Part 3

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>I attended the Prep Hoops Freshman Showcase this past weekend at Inspire Courts. I came away extremely impressed with the class of 2030; there are a lot of high-upside players along with super-skilled kids right now. Most of these kids I haven't gotten to see live yet so this was a great event! Here are some of the players that impressed me a lot:</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='3693024' first='Harlem' last='Graham'] (<strong>Bella Vista</strong>):</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A smooth lead guard showcased elite scoring. After recently being ranked #1 in the initial Prep Hoop Arizona 2030 rankings, he made sure everyone knew it. Harlem has an elite first step that lets him get by defenders, and he uses his body to get his shot off. He creates space with ease, especially in the midrange, and elevates nicely for his midrange jump shot. He can get up easily in transition. He will shine as the years go on.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='2970234' first='Brad' last='Pitt'] (<strong>Bella Vista</strong>):</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Another Bella Vista star in 2030 who showcased his dominant reign on this 2030 class. Brad uses his strong physique to punish defenders when he drives to the rim. He has elite-level bounce, which lets him finish in different ways around the rim, whether it is tough layups, posterizing dunks, or even alley-oops. He is a menace defensively, which often leads to him getting out in transition. Jaion Pitt's younger brother will be fun to watch over the next 4 years.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='3662701' first='Deon' last='Pless'] (<strong>Mesquite</strong>):</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A quick-on-quick, scrappy guard who wants to win everything. Deon has a competitive spirit that most don't see at a showcase event, but he showed it. He isn't scared to stop the ball and has quick hands to try and rip people clean. He can get out in transition and finish through traffic at the rim. Deon looks to facilitate for others but can also create for himself. He will be a nice addition to this under-the-radar Mesquite team.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='3642150' first='Quinn' last='Rettenmier'] (<strong>Willow</strong> <strong>Canyon</strong>):</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A skilled wing showed off his high IQ at this showcase. Quinn used elite footwork to finish around the rim. He uses his ball fake well to get defenders off balance. Along with that, he was able to shoot the three-ball at a high rate as well. He has impressive size for a freshman and will look to make an impact for this Willow Canyon team.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='3733617' first='Court' last='Ridenour'] (<strong>Basha</strong>):<br>Another top freshman coming out of the Basha program. He is a very skilled player, and his ability to shoot the 3 at a high rate allows him to be effective getting downhill. He uses his footwork well in the paint to finish with crafty moves. He works hard on defense, which allows him to get out in transition and score. He will be a key piece for this Basha team moving forward in the future.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='3732341' first='Logan' last='Pepper'] (<strong>Willow</strong> <strong>Canyon</strong>):</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Logan was one of the biggest kids in this entire event. He used that size to rebound well on both ends of the floor. Offensively, he was able to use his shot fakes well to get defenders to jump and then convert on easy baskets. He can space the floor a little bit and will shoot the midrange game with ease. Logan is a big body in the paint and deters opponents from coming in there at times. He will continue to grow his game and will keep improving as his high school years go on.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
