Pumas Fall League: 2028-30 Standouts

The Pumas Fall League continued on Saturday with more intense action at the high school level. In this article I'll break down the 2028-2030 standouts I caught on Saturday morning.

One of the top players in the fall league, Alexander is a level ahead of the competition with his athleticism and skill level on the court. Alexander has quick burst on the ball and is a blur when he changes directions. His increased strength has also helped him finish at the rim as he's clearly continued to hit the weight room. I also was impressed by Alexander's ability to finish with his right hand at the rim, looking confident with the ball in either hand as a driver and finisher. One of the top players in southeast Ohio, Alexander will be a name fans all across the region will want to watch this winter.

Another southeast Ohio standout, Richardson comes from the TVC at River Valley High School. Richardson did a nice job finishing at the rim, using straight line drives and pump fakes to get to the basket. I also was impressed with Richardson's touch at the rim, making some contested layups with his left hand. Richardson also has a solid frame and grabbed a handful of rebounds for his team. Based on what I saw on Saturday morning, Richardson should be one of the top wing guards in the TVC this winter.

Thorne impressed me at the Prep Hoops freshman showcase a little over a year ago so it was nice to see him make some clear improvements since that time. Thorne's biggest improvement has been his confidence handling the basketball, setting up his teammates with his ability to get by his primary defender. I've always liked Thorne's glue guy ability as he is a high IQ player, crashes the glass and makes the extra pass. On an Olentangy Liberty program that requires toughness and skill, Thorne should be a nice piece for their program, especially when he's an upperclassmen.

A prospect who came to the Prep Hoops Sophomore ID camp about a month ago, Rathbun did a lot of the same things I saw back in August on Saturday morning. An elite perimeter shooter, Rathbun caught fire late on the game and almost single handily brought his team back in the first game of the morning. Rathbun can catch fire thanks to his ability to space the floor from the forward spot and his willingness to fire away from the college line area. A player to watch in central Ohio's 2029 class.

Playing on a team with a handful of 2030 prospects in the high school older division, Gonidakis is getting valuable experience playing against older and more physically mature competition. His scrappiness allows him to make some plays as Gonidakis is active in passing lanes and a pest defensively. Also a knockdown shooter if left open, Gonidakis hit a handful of open 3-pointers on Saturday morning with the corners being his favorite spot on the floor.
