Point Guards Who Command, Create, and Control

They say that defense win games, but the lead guard is often the most important player on the court. He may not score the most points, but he is the one that sets the table. He is the one that dictates the pace of the game. He is the coach on the court that conveys the coaches game plan. He has to control the ball game, his emotions and the flow of the game and make the tough decisions. Here are some of the top guards to watch this upcoming season.

[player_tooltip player_id='2700512' first='Aaron' last='Miles'] is easily one of the top guards in the state and from a production standpoint, you cannot ask for more from a PG. He is efficient, smart, effective on or off the ball and can control the game by scoring or facilitating, and that is just where it starts. Defensively he never gives up on a play and can guard 94 feet. He is a game changer whenever he is on the court and an easy next level prospect.

[player_tooltip player_id='2700453' first='Wayne' last='Nevels'] may be one of the most underrated guards in the state, and I can take the blame for that. He is a full 94 feet guard that just never lets up. All things considered, when looking for a Louisiana PG, Nevels checks all the boxes and his senior season could be his big jump in the rankings. He can score when needed, but works to get his buckets the hard way. He will kake it from the opposing guard and finish through contact. Be on the lookout for Nevels, because his stock is on the rise.

[player_tooltip player_id='2896529' first='Jeremiah' last='Wells'] steps into his senior season with plenty to showcase this upcoming season. Wells is a confident player with a full spectrum skill set. He has a tight handle, makes great decisions and shoots the ball well from behind the arc. He is just comfortable on the court and that is a great quality for a in a PG. Look for him to have some big games this season which will surely have coaches in line for his next level services.

[player_tooltip player_id='2025219' first='Christian' last='Glenn'] is on an absolute tear this summer and everything that he has worked on is coming together. He has added more speed and explosiveness and all summer he has been virtually impossible to guard. He is playing the game with a ton of confidence and trusting the work. Long, quick, smart and efficient describes his game and he has just enough flash in it to keep defenders guessing. He is grabbing offers from all around the nation for a reason, and that will continue throughout the season.

[player_tooltip player_id='3704175' first='Ronald' last='Navarre'] has played well all summer and as one of the top guards in the state will continue to improve his rankings this upcoming season. He is consistently more efficient, and improves his game on both sides of the ball. He under rated skill is his ability to lead and that will be on full display this season as he steps in as an upperclassman.

We are just getting started with player evaluations as we continue to dive into positions and players in each class.
