NW HoopSource HS Fall League Weekend 2 – Top Performers (I)

HoopSource HS Fall League had a number of varsity games at both Liberty and Tualatin and Ramsay Neu had the opportunity to catch some action. Here are some of the top performers.

Reports written by Ramsay Neu

Shay, per usual, was rebounding, altering shots at the rim, picking dudes up right at the half, and scoring at all 3 levels. There really isn't a lot this guy can't do. His better game was against Ida B. Wells, were he seemed to be more engaged then the game against South Eugene. He caught a lob off the back board during the South Eugene game, and was the reason they rallied to beat them by 15. Overall great day for Thompson

Kovalchick started the game strong, dropping 3 three's in the first 7 minutes. Beaverton had to constantly run him off the line as he was always a danger to shoot from anywhere once he got the ball. A very solid defender as well, Kovalchick forced multiple jumpballs/steals, and also contributed some strong rebounding to Lakeridge.

Blake led the beavers in scoring both games, mainly from the perimeter, where he made the opponent step up. Blake also was playing some point guard for the beavers, directing the offense and dishing it off to his teammates well. Overall I think Blake could have a break out year.

Oliver was a dog for Ida B. Wells, scoring, playmaking and picking up ball every play. Over both games Oliver played physical, had multiple steals, and even at his short stature got to the rim at will. An underated guard that could steal minutes for Wells this year.

Diego looked like the Wildcats best player, getting steals down the stretch to beat South Eugene in a thriller. His strong frame leads to him being a versatile guard that can create, rebound, and guard all positions.
