Never Forget Classic: Unsigned senior eye-catchers

Rome Runs hosted its annual Never Forget Classic on Saturday, bringing together a handful of top programs from the Tri-State region for one of the inaugural events of the fall season. Keep reading for a look at a handful of unsigned seniors who caught the eye over the course of several sets in the afternoon.    After generating some buzz in Long Island as a member of the 2026 class, Shaw-Glenn looks to be putting the pieces together at the right time while beginning his post-grad year at Perkiomen. On Saturday, he served as an effective sparkplug across the frontcourt, particularly standing out as an active and switchable weapon on the defensive end. Offensively, he showed positive flashes as a cutter and slasher with explosive athleticism to finish above the rim. Shaw-Glenn's catch-and-shoot jumper remains a work in progress from the perimeter, but if his shots are able to fall throughout the winter, it wouldn't be a surprise for a D1 program to take a chance on him.     Looking set to emerge in a big way as a senior after serving as a deeper reserve last season, Thompson put together an explosive and well-rounded effort in Ryan's comfortable win over Reading. Matched up with a classically quick and aggressive Red Knight lineup, he had no issue matching that level of intensity as an athletic utility piece on the wing. Thompson pushed and ran effectively in transition, showed flashes of ability to create his own shot in space, and was able to keep the defense honest as a standstill shooter from the perimeter. Ryan has a strong history of seniors stepping up as college prospects after developing through the program, and Thompson looks like a likely candidate to be the next in line.     Making his debut for CATS after coming over from Mount St. Charles (RI), Dalton provided a key spark off the bench and impressed with his smooth offensive arsenal. The southpaw was effective making plays for himself and others, showing mature pace and court vision while operating out of ball screens to either side. He was most noteworthy when handling the ball but also showed comfort sliding off next to another playmaker and remaining a threat with his catch-and-shoot jumper. Dalton certainly has weapons around him to alleviate pressure and be on the receiving end of his setups, and could be a breakout prospect for scholarship-level coaches to track on the Grind Session this winter.     Reading took a tough loss to Archbishop Ryan of the Philly Catholic League, but De Castro put together an admirable effort to make sure the Red Knights didn't go down without a fight. Taking advantage of a lesser-experienced Ryan backcourt, De Castro was able to work to his spots with consistency before converting efficiently from a variety of areas. His blend of physicality, quickness, and herky-jerky skill makes for a tough cover in 1-on-1 situations. We'd like to see him continue improving as a playmaker for others but De Castro's tough-nosed approach and ability to generate offense from scratch should have scholarship-level programs monitoring him closely.     Debuting with Executive after coming over from nearby Allentown Central Catholic, Gonzalez had no problem acclimating his scrappy two-way game to a new environment. He led the way for the Raptors in a tight win over Springside Chestnut Hill, consistently finding ways to get around the rim and finish efficiently with his left hand. Gonzalez plays somewhat of a herky-jerky game with a nice ability to adapt his role depending on what the situation calls for. He's a welcome infusion of talent into the Executive lineup and will have a chance to lead the Raptors deep in the 3A playoffs.
