I had the chance to attend the BSH Preseason Jam over the weekend hosted by Geoffrey Day at the Temple Training Center. Lots of teams are beginning to get in a groove with fall ball beginning this month and many teams are missing some key players because of football season. Some teams, however, are at full strength and are starting to find their chemistry and footing with each other. Here are some players I think who will have big upcoming scholastic seasons and contribute to their team's efforts making it to playoffs.

[player_tooltip player_id='2555972' first='Jevon' last='Walker'] is one of the best dual-threat players I have been able to watch in the 2027 class over the last year. He shoots with great consistency from the perimeter, operates well off screens, and handles the ball like a point guard. Waker rebounds well with his height at the guard position and he makes smart decisions in crunch time. His quick release allows him to get shots off over opponents and he has the IQ to always make the extra pass if a teammate is wide open. Walker put up 30 points on Saturday morning in a win for George Ranch over EOP, further showcasing his scoring ability and shot making. Jevon has been putting in work since last scholastic season, earning offers from New Mexico State, Auburn, UT Arlington, Presbyterian College, and Louisiana at Lafayette.

Clifton is an athletically gifted 2028 guard who scored consistently in the paint and midrange on Saturday afternoon in a key win for Klein Oak. Jones has a smooth jumper that he uses to get off his shot quickly and efficiently as well as driving to the basket and drawing contact at a high rate. His defense in the paint is tenacious, using jumping ability and IQ to block shots at the basket and he rebounds well on both ends, always looking to push the tempo. Jones will be looked at to as one of the main scorers for the Panthers this upcoming season and will figure to be on some collegiate radars!

[player_tooltip player_id='2359679' first='Myles' last='Dennis'] is a 2028 guard who excels at shooting either off the dribble or the catch/shoot option. He has great off ball movement and can be impactful for the stat column in almost any category. Dennis helps to handle the ball well under full court pressure as well as making sound decisions whenever he is left open by the defense. Myles gets defensive stops due to lateral quickness and plays passing lanes with ease, notching about 3 steals in Washington's Saturday win over Katy Jordan. He capitalizes at the free throw line and makes sure that he takes advantage of every foul shot he can get. Transferring over to Washington from La Porte this year, Dennis will look to take advantage of a big scholastic season for him on a well-balanced Eagles squad.

Durham is a smooth playmaker and scorer in isolation situations. He makes the right reads and is an aggressive and speedy perimeter defender. Jaylen recently has found his way onto radars of several schools at the collegiate level due to his momentum that has been continuing on from the grassroots summer. He gets downhill past defenders quickly and always makes sure that he is the one in control of the pace the game proceeds at. Jaylen recently has picked up offers from Paul Quinn, Florida Memorial, Dallas Eastfield, and Bethel. Look for him to take major strides leading the charge at Washington this year from the combo guard slot!

Neely caught fire early in the game against Katy Jordan, rattling home 4-5 three pointers from distance. Jerron moves well off the ball around screens, cutting to the basket as well as finding open spots on the perimeter to spot up and wait for catch/shoot opportunities. He plays hard on defense, hustling for loose balls and playing passing lanes well. His aggressiveness pressures opposing ballhandlers into turnovers and gives Klein Oak transition chances to further strengthen the lead and score in the paint. His overall energy was much needed and you could definitely notice when he was on the floor because he gave 110% every possession.
