Sophomore ID Camp: Frontcourt Standouts That Need More Attention

The ID Camp delivered plenty of energy, competition, and players eager to make their presence felt. From wings attacking off the bounce to bigs battling on the glass and starting the break themselves, this group showed a willingness to compete in a variety of ways. There were shooters knocking down big threes, defenders bringing intensity and high motor players flying around every possession. With so many developing talents showing flashes across the floor, this camp gave us plenty to be excited about moving forward.    Johnson showed why he's a developing wing prospect to keep an eye on, consistently attacking defenders and creating separation off the bounce. He played with an aggressive mindset, using his quickness to get downhill and put pressure on the defense. There were flashes of a player who can continue expanding his offensive game as his skill set develops. Johnson's ability to create his own opportunities and attack space gives him an intriguing foundation, making him a name worth tracking closely moving forward     Mackley showed intriguing flashes in the open court, making a strong selection and converting the opportunity into a basket. The big man also stood out with his ability to rebound and immediately push the ball himself, giving his team another way to ignite the break. That willingness to grab the rebound and initiate transition adds versatility to his game. Mackley is a developing frontcourt prospect whose activity, decision making and ability to create offense in transition make him one to continue tracking     Cortez brought a high level of hustle to the showcase, consistently competing for rebounds and making his presence felt around the basket. He showed a willingness to pursue the ball, secure the board and immediately go back up strong rather than hesitate. That effort and physicality gave him opportunities to impact possessions without needing plays called for him. Cortez's motor and toughness stood out, giving him an intriguing foundation as a developing player who can continue to carve out a role through his energy and effort     Mohammed showed flashes of an intriguing interior game at the showcase, using his big frame to create space and get himself into scoring position. One of the more encouraging aspects was his ability to slow down around the basket, allowing himself to gather and finish with more control. That patience gives him a chance to become a difficult matchup as his touch and footwork continue to develop. Mohammed's combination of size, strength and developing finishing ability makes him a frontcourt prospect worth monitoring     Zervakos brought nonstop energy to the showcase, flying around the floor and making his presence felt on both ends. His defensive intensity stood out as he worked hard to stay engaged and make life difficult for opposing players. Offensively he showed confidence from deep, knocking down big threes that showcased his ability to stretch the floor. That motor, defensive edge and shooting ability give Zervakos an intriguing foundation, and there's plenty to like about where his game could go as he continues to develop     Ross showed his ability to impact the game on both ends of the floor at the showcase. He knocked down the three ball offensively while bringing a competitive edge defensively. Ross did a good job battling against bigger players, using his positioning and physicality to slow them down. He also showed awareness navigating screens and consistently kept his hands straight up to challenge without giving up easy opportunities. That two way approach and willingness to compete against size made Ross an intriguing player to continue tracking     Krasniqi used his size and strength to make an impact around the basket, showing a willingness to battle inside and establish position. He played with his back to the basket, looking to bang down low and create scoring opportunities through physicality. Krasniqi's ability to occupy space and play through contact gives him an intriguing foundation as a developing interior prospect. As his footwork, touch and offensive counters continue to develop, his physical presence could make him an increasingly difficult matchup in the frontcourt     Smith made his presence felt as a relentless glass chaser, consistently pursuing rebounds and giving his team extra possessions. What stood out was his ability to grab the board and immediately start the break, showing confidence in pushing the ball himself rather than waiting for a guard. That combination of rebounding activity and transition play gives Smith another dimension to his game. His motor around the glass and ability to ignite offense after securing rebounds could make him a valuable piece as his game continues to develop
