Newcomers to the Updated 2029 Top 100

Our <a href="https://prephoops.com/virginia/rankings/virginia-high-school-boys-basketball-2029-class-player-rankings/">Updated 2029 Rankings</a> have expanded to include 100 players in the sophomore class. Camps, showcases and tournaments during June and July provided plenty of opportunties for our staff to evaluate prospects from around the state. Here is a closer look at a handful of sophomore prospects who earned their way into our rankings for the first time.    Thomas-Postell is a skilled scoring lead guard who stood out with VA Havoc throughout the spring and summer. He has a good feel for the game, sees the floor well and consistently finds open teammates. The sophomore is also a capable shot maker from beyond the arc and operates effectively in ball screen situations, giving him the ability to impact the game as both a scorer and facilitator.     Reed is a quick, attacking lead guard with an explosive first step and the ability to consistently get into the paint. The sophomore sees the floor extremely well and is an excellent passer who creates opportunities for teammates. He is also a capable shot maker from beyond the arc and is active defensively, where he can force turnovers and quickly turn defense into offense.     McCoy is an intriguing 2029 prospect with good length, high level athleticism and plenty of long term upside. He is an efficient perimeter shot maker with deep range and can also attack off the dribble and finish at the rim. McCoy has a good feel for the game and possesses the physical tools to develop into a versatile, high level defender.     Tucker is a skilled ball handling guard with the versatility to play either backcourt position. The sophomore has a quick first step and good strength, allowing him to create off the dribble and score at all three levels. He is also a reliable decision maker with the ball in his hands and brings value as both a scorer and facilitator.     Elliott impressed with Team Loaded Black this offseason, proving to have an impressive offensive skill set and good feel for the game. He has good positional size, plays with a high motor and moves well without the ball. Elliott is difficult for defenders to keep out of the paint and is also a reliable perimeter shot maker when left open, giving him the ability to impact the game in multiple ways at the offensive end.
