Kentucky Freshman Showcase: Team 2 Standouts

Williamson did a nice job acrobatically getting around rim contests from longer players to score. Late in the day, Williamson was a one man full-court press as he had back-to-back steals that turned into layups. That type of effort late in the day certainly made him stood out from the rest of the prospects at the showcase. Miner is a talented offensive player who had some crafty finishes at the basket and liked the floater as the shot the avoid taller players in the paint. This showcase featured a lot of smaller guards standing out and Miner was as talented as any with the ball in his hands. That's such a tough shot to master but Devine has that locked down already. Thomas noticed this loss of stamina from the defense and started leaking out (as one player on the other team called it cherry picking) but Thomas scored four layups off this and the defense took a while to react to his heads up play to get down the court and look to score behind the defense. Besides those breakaway layups, Thomas wanted to attack off the dribble and drew some fouls when players couldn't stay in front of him. I called him a junk yard dawg in my notes as he was physical, played with a high motor and rebounded the basketball. Those qualities will be key for Stanesu to eventually see varsity action at one of the top programs in the state of Kentucky. If he brings the same intensity to practice each day with Warren Central, he'll be a useful piece to their program.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- /wp:acf/evaluation-block -->
