High School Spotlight: Austin Eagles

The season is still a few months away, but it is never too early to look ahead at the high school season. We will be taking a look at some quick hitters, the top player(s), a potential breakout player, other roster members, and more for the upcoming season. The biggest reason why is simple: the Eagles have the top 2029 prospect in the state in [player_tooltip player_id='2636078' first='Micah' last='Mohler']. Over the past year, Mohler has established himself as the clear No. 1 player in Indiana's 2029 class with his rare combination of size, skill, strength, athleticism, and overall feel for the game. He further validated that status by earning an early scholarship offer from Indiana, a testament to just how highly regarded he already is. Expect Mohler to be the driving force behind Austin this season and one of the biggest reasons the Eagles have a legitimate chance to make a deep postseason run.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Potential Breakout Player: [player_tooltip player_id='2538909' first='Tracen' last='Roush']</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A lot of the attention surrounding Austin understandably goes to [player_tooltip player_id='2636078' first='Micah' last='Mohler'], but make no mistake—this roster has plenty of talent around him. One player I'm especially high on as a breakout contributor is junior guard [player_tooltip player_id='2538909' first='Tracen' last='Roush']. Roush impressed me throughout the summer with his relentless motor, toughness, and willingness to compete on both ends of the floor. He is a capable scorer from 15 feet and beyond and has the ability to knock down perimeter shots while also making winning plays that don't always show up in the box score.
