Freshman/Sophomore ID Camp Standouts, Second Five

This past Sunday a number of talented underclassmen took the court at Seminole Sports Academy for the Freshman/Sophomore ID Camp, and a number of players took advantage of the opportunity and really made a name for themselves heading into this season. Let's take a closer look at some of the prospects who stood out with their outstanding play throughout the event.    Vancott was one of the more polished players who took the floor this past Sunday, and established himself as one of, if not the top prospect of the showcase. At 6'5" he has great size and length, and effects the game in a number of ways both offensively and defensively. He has the ability the guard any position on the floor and was an outstanding rebounder on both ends of the court. Vancott can score inside and out, where he was efficient down low in the paint, showcased a beautiful jump shot with great rotation, and shoots it at a high rate from both the mid-range and behind the arc.     The rising sophomore, Allen-Mimms, has a great motor and plays the game with tremendous energy and emotion. He has an excellent basketball IQ, and was very vocal every time he stepped on the floor. He's an extremely athletic prospect, with a lightning quick first step who likes to attack the basket, but also has the ability to knock down the 3-ball to keep the defense honest. Allen-Mimms rebounds the ball very well from guard position, and with his quick feet and quick hands really took pride in his defensive game.     A do it all type of prospect, Kenney, shinned throughout the 5-5 on play. The 6'1" CG plays the game fast yet under control, and was very talkative while he was on the court. He gives it 100% for the entire game, and was constantly sacrificing his body and getting on the floor for loose balls. He has excellent handles, the ability to create his own shot, and also uses his change of speed nicely to keep the defense off balance. Kenny does a little bit of everything and seems like the type of prospect who can flirt with triple-double numbers night in and night out.     A long and athletic prospect, Jones, was unstoppable at moments throughout the showcase. He handles the ball very well for a guy his size, and when he gets going downhill he's tough to stop. He is solid in the post and can finish through contact, but also has a nice soft touch from the outside. He was one of the top defenders throughout the showcase with his shot blocking ability, and also showed he can lock down the smaller guards with his athleticism. Jones has a ton of upside and is a prospect coaches should continue to monitor as he matures and develops his game.     Petit-Frere is a quick and shifty guard who has excellent speed and plays the game with great composure. He has elite handles and is a tremendous passer, who always has his eyes up looking for the open man. The 5'8" PG attacks the basket with no fear, and if left open he is a knockdown shooter with great range. Petit-frere is a gritty defender with both quick feet and quick hands, and embraces a challenge on the defensive side of the ball.
