2029 class: Which sophomore will make a leap?

Some are coming off productive AAU seasons and are carrying the momentum into the 2026 season.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>This season will be all about each prospect showing individual progress at their respected positions. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>So this leads to only one question: Which sophomore will make a leap?</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='3651684' first='Dunnie' last='Knight'], Notre Dame: The 6-foot-5 wing already has interest from Division 1 programs. Knight could be one of the faces of the class if he continues to make progression. He runs the floor well. Knight finishes well around the rim. Early in his career, he already has the understanding of posting up a smaller defender on the block when he clearly has the advantage. Knight can make shots from the perimeter. He should be one of the young, bright stars in TSSAA Division II Class AA this upcoming season.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='3344017' first='Rio' last='Curry'], Hardin Valley Academy: Curry is a 6-1 guard that has already displayed how well he can shoot it from 3. He has a quick release. Curry's doesn't have a problem creating separation. He's a good ball handler and doesn't have an issue getting past his defender. Curry's future is promising. He's already shown that he can be an offensive juggernaut.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='3279051' first='Dallas' last='Freeman'], Rossville Christian Academy: Freeman has a chance to be a solid point guard. He has good size (6-0). Freeman is a reliable ball handler. He sees the floor well. Freeman can make shots from the perimeter at an efficient rate. He's already off to a good start to a promising high school career. Freeman averaged 13.6 points on 56 percent shooting as a freshman last season. He should only improve from here. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='2979284' first='Malachi' last='Hill'], Bartlett: Hill was the starting point guard on a Mokan Elite 15U team this summer that won Peach Jam. He got the much-needed reps. Hill looked sharp throughout the spring and summer. He's comfortable with running an offense. Hill is an excellent ball handler. He can make shots from the perimeter. Hill already holds offers from Murray State and Ole Miss. His leap and progression this upcoming season will be something to watch.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='2822320' first='Decari' last='Parks'], Columbia Academy: Parks is another prospect in the class that got off to a promising start. He's coming off a freshman season averaging 10.0 points, 4.1 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 1.3 steals per game. Parks can get to his spots. He knows how to finish in the paint. Parks can make shots from the perimeter. In 2026, the point guard should be on the Division II Class A Middle All-Region team. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
