Southwest Indiana Under the Radar Guards to Watch in July

As the July evaluation period tips off, the spotlight naturally falls on the area's biggest names—but every summer, a handful of guards quietly prove they deserve far more attention. Whether it's their ability to create offense, knock down shots, defend at a high level, or simply make winning plays, these Southwest Indiana guards have the tools to elevate their stock over the coming weeks. Here are some of the under-the-radar backcourt players who could make a name for themselves this July:    Nice change of pace combo guard that does whatever it takes on the floor to put his team in position to get a win. Long and lanky guard that is a high level defender. Has the length and quickness to guard multiple positions. Offensively he's a score first guard that thrives on getting downhill. Does a really nice job using his angles to get to spots where he can finish. Capable three-point shooter that can get hot and he can be a game changer scoring the ball in a variety of different ways.     Lightning quick guard that had a really nice June with his high school team and his AAU team Hoop Club 2027 is coming off an AAU World Championship victory. Defensive minded guard that plays with a high motor every single possession he's on the floor. Fluid athlete on the floor that makes winning plays. Impacts games without scoring with his defense, rebounding, and playmaking. Has worked to become a confident shooter that shoots it well from range. Short memory shooter that can get going in a hurry.     One of the top lead guards in the area that has shown time and again in the last couple years that he's able to be a game changer on both ends of the floor. Quick guard that really gets after it on the defensive end of the floor. High IQ defender that's able to pressure to full court and turn games around in a hurry. Good rebounder at the guard spot. Thrives in transition where he is really good with the advance pass. Capable of playing on or off the ball. Really good cutter and play finisher. Capable jump shooter, but is best when getting downhill where he can finish in a variety of different ways while also reading defenses well and finding the open man.     Young guard that was a key piece for the Castle Knights Sectional Championship team in March has continued his strong play through June with Hoop Club 2029. Versatile guard that can do a lot of different things offensively but his calling card is his shooting ability. Comfortable shooting off the catch or off the dribble. He possesses a smooth, quick release that is effortless from deep range. Continues to get better off the dribble in the midrange, but does a good job using change of speed to get all the way to the basket where he uses both hands well. High IQ guard that continues to get better every time I see him.     Smooth lefty guard in the class of 2027 from Eastern Greene that makes the game look easy in the offensive end. Confident scorer that's showed he can get buckets from all three levels. Has an excellent middle game going left where he can stop and pop over defenders with a soft touch. Really good shooter off the dribble from distance. Operates the pick and roll with a scorers mindset but is a willing passer with great court vision to set up teammates. Plays at a good pace and doesn't get sped up. Look for him to have a big July playing for [program_tooltip program_id='2076224' first='DistinXion' last=''] 2027.
