Sharpshooter John Williams and TN’s best ’28 Shooting Guards

The Class of 2028 players ended their 16u AAU seasons and are taking the big jump from sophomores to juniors. More will be asked of them. Cox gets up and down the floor well with a powerful 6-foot-5 body. His handle is surprisingly good for that height and he can also score in the paint. Look for Cox to turn heads consistently in his upcoming junior year. Jo Byrns enjoyed a fantastic 2025-2026 season in part because Cox played so well so early in his high school career.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Bradley Central was quite young last season. <strong>Greg Cason</strong> came off of the bench as a sparkplug. Cason's game is basically score and then score some more. He is creative and slick with the dribble. Cason is due for a breakout season.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2915981' first='Eli' last='Bell']</strong> is a bigger guard. You might list him informally as a small forward. It is not that important. The point is that Eli makes plays with the dribble and his strength. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2337004' first='Aiden' last='Amonett'] </strong>enjoyed a great June coming off a strong PrepHoopsTN Combine prior. Amonett is a tall guard with bravery in the lane. Defensively he can guard 2-3 positions at the high school level.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>You will see <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2639219' first='Tyler' last='Bennerman']</strong> play all over the floor. He knows how to body up his man or hit the open shot. Point guard is the plan. For now, he is a basketball player.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Bullseye Boys</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2401962' first='Porter' last='Dickson']</strong> - Bearden<br><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2933245' first='John' last='Williams'] </strong>- Lipscomb Academy<br><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2693721' first='Lucas' last='Kinnard']</strong> - Franklin Road Academy<br><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2935143' first='David' last='Scott']</strong> - South-Doyle<br><strong>Lucas Graves</strong> - Brentwood Academy</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Both <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2401962' first='Porter' last='Dickson'] </strong>and<strong> [player_tooltip player_id='2933245' first='John' last='Williams']</strong> shot the ball lights out at previous PrepHoopsTN Combines. Porter will play all three perimeter spots for Bearden as they work to reload at the Knoxville juggernaut. The two are both hard workers who really love the game. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Porter is also one of the taller wing guards in the state, standing about 6-foot-4. Aaron Morrison raves about Kinnard's deadeye shooting. Trainer Mason McKnatt sees a lot of skill in Luke's outside game. Kinnard capably plays either guard spot and yet his shooting must be addressed every game.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
