June has come and gone and with it goes arguably the most important and valuable time on the recruiting calendar for college coaches and high school prospects alike. Arizona has become a recruiting hot bed during June with events such as Section 7, but other events such as the yearly Best In Basketball Summer Invitational in Gilbert or out of state events such as Nevada Live attract the top teams and players alike.

Throughout the next couple of weeks, I will be releasing the top prospects I observed during the June live period.

Templeton Fountaine V - Vanden (CA)

The 6'4" combo guard held his own at Section 7 against tough competition such as Gilbert and Orem (UT). In both matchups he showcased his skillset to be able to score from all three levels as he knocked down catch-and-shoot threes on the perimeter and slammed in multiple dunks at the rim. His handle is tight which is a good skill set to have as a two-guard and his ability to be a secondary playmaker allows the offense to continue to flow. He's a gifted rebounder for the position as he uses his stellar bounce and long arms to pull in rebounds over longer and larger opponents.

[player_tooltip player_id='2533594' first='CJ' last='Johnson'] - Desert Edge

One of the top returning players in the 5A conference has appeared to make a jump following a strong end to his freshman year. The sophomore-to-be showcased all throughout June why he has the potential to be 5A player of the year with an improved jump shot that elevates his recruitability. The mid-range game was already a strength, but slowly adding a three-point shot makes him a three-level threat to score. Playmaking for Johnson was better in June than it was during the regular season and pushing the pace in transition and swinging the ball around has added to his evolving skillset.

[player_tooltip player_id='2276223' first='Kingston' last='Montague'] - Basha

The Basha guard steps into the big shoes that the graduating Mason Magee left behind as he has become the lead guard in the Bears lineup. The combo guard has transitioned into becoming a better playmaker with more reps and likely will be a better one by the time the season comes around. However the key to his game and ultimately to Basha's success will be his scoring ability. Montague is a lethal score that can run it up in bunches as he just needs one basket to get into rhythm. Whether its using his handle to create separation and step back to shoot or blowing by and stopping on a dime in the paint, he's a multi-level scorer who controls the game.

[player_tooltip player_id='1873684' first='Tyson' last='Crandall'] - Highland

Crandall is the unquestioned number one once again for a Highland team that can compete with anyone. The biggest reason for that is how dynamic he is running the offense with how he can create a shot and keep turnovers to a minimum with a tight handle and smart decision making. He's got a quick first step which allows him to stay in front of opposing offensive players and blow by slower defenders. He creates seperation with ease and can knock down shots comfortably from behind the three-point line.

[player_tooltip player_id='2146269' first='Daijon' last='Grayson'] - Mesa

Another rising star relishing in a new role is Grayson who had a stellar month earning offers in the process. The extremely athletic guard punches it in at the rim with force and if anyone gets in his way they run the risk of ending up on a poster. He has a fantastic handle which he pairs with elite quickness to blow past defenders and finish at the rim. When he wants to, he stops on a dime with great skill and pulls up in the mid-range and knocks it down.

[player_tooltip player_id='2825980' first='Brexton' last='Quinet'] - Deer Valley

One of the biggest breakout stars of June was Quinet who looks every bit of a potential player of the year candidate as a rising sophomore. A flamethrower from deep, he showcased a plethora of ways to score throughout the month and that scoring showcase coupled with a high IQ and the ability to playmake earned him his first D1 offer. The guard can takeover the game at any moment whether its banging in multiple shots from deep or finishing inside the paint off two feet, Quinet is the prototype for a score-first star.
