Northwest June D1 Event - Fresh Faces

The 6th Annual Northwest June D1 Recruiting Event - also known to many as "WIBCA" - took place the last weekend in June and many of the very top teams in both Oregon and Washington matched up in some very competitive games over the two days at Bellevue College, Lake Washington High School, and Sammamish High School. The event was very well attended as Division I coaches from the Pac-12, Mountain West, Big Sky, Big West, West Coast Conference, and other conferences were sitting on the sidelines watching, along with many D-II, D-III, NAIA, and JC coaches from all over the West Coast.   We had the opportunity to head up I-5 and check out a number of games at Sammamish and Lake Washington High Schools and here are some of the prospects we saw for the first time (or the first time in a long while) who made an impression on us and should see their stock rise going up to and into this upcoming season.    Truth be told, Emmett isn't a fresh face to Wilsonville as he was a major contributor last year for the Wildcats, having even led them in scoring in a number of games. But WIBCA was our first opportunity to get a closer look at him and we loved what he brings to the table on the basketball floor, especially offensively. He's capable of scoring both inside and out as a big wing, posting up smaller players with a number of creative moves down low and also knocking down perimeter jumpers. He averaged 16.5 points in two wins on Sunday.     Another Wildcat that's definitely not a total fresh face is Ratcliffe, but we're including him here because he hasn't played in over a year due to injury. It was refreshing to see the Wilsonville big man on the floor and while there's no question some rust to shake off for the rising junior, but “Big Mike” looked solid. He was running the floor well, taking up space in the lane, and getting physical on the boards as he helped the Wildcats capture two wins on Sunday.     A player whose role with Roosevelt will certainly rise during his junior season will be Harris. He's a rangy and athletic slasher who really aggressively attacks the basket and he made a number of plays at WIBCA, in particular in transition where he can finish in a number of acrobatic ways.     Another Roughrider bound for more minutes in 2026-27 is Metcalf. At WIBCA, we were impressed first and foremost with his motor, which was non-stop on both ends of the floor as he was constantly looking to make plays both with the ball in his hands and on defense. His hustle led to a number of garbage buckets and he also made good decisions handling the ball in transition.     Also a standout wide receiver on the Gresham football team, Schab caught our eye with his athleticism and scoring ability for a big wing. He was hot early from the field in a win over Glacier Peak at WIBCA, hitting three from deep and was also rewarded with some points getting to the hoop. He contributed on the boards too with 6 rebounds and also blocked two shots.
