No. 1 ranked 2029 Jordan Costley on UA Future 60, offers and more

Each Wednesday for the month of July, our MD/DC player rankings will be updated. We'll start this week with 2027, next week with 2028, the following with 2029 and last but not least, a 2030 watchlist before heading into August. One of the first questions when ranking a class starts at the top with who has earned the No. 1 ranking. Currently in our 2029 class, [player_tooltip player_id='2767938' first='Jordan' last='Costley'] is the guy and while it can be extremely difficult to hold on to the top spot throughout a four-year span at the high school level, the 6-foot-3 guard has seemingly used the spring/summer stages to not only remind folks why he's atop of those rankings, but may have even created some separation in the process.   His most recent body of work came during the two June Scholastic Live Period weekends where he was efficient as always with his offensive output. To start the month of June though, the Springdale Prep and [program_tooltip program_id='2077005' first='Team' last='Thrill'] product took home MVP honors of the Under Armour Future 60.   "It was a great camp," Costley told Prep Hoops. "It was great energy and great competition and just a great camp all around being there with the best of the best."   Known for his prolific shotmaking ability, Costley used this platform to showcase his playmaking ability off the bounce, proving himself as much more than a one-trick pony.   "Using my pace," Costley said regarding what he learned most during camp. "Just knowing how to play in different speeds. Slowing down and knowing when to explode out or slowing down and knowing when to used bumps to get where you need to go. I played a lot more in ball screens during the camp, so that was good."   Playing up an age group on Thrill 16s, Costley leads the team in scoring by a pretty wide margin, but as I stated earlier, he's been showing more layers to his game throughout the spring to prove his balance and you can see that as he's tied for team highs in both rebounding and assists. As Costley and his team set their eyes on the home stretch of UA play this month, he has a few goals in mind.   "I want to win the 16s championship again and pick up more offers and interests. We have to play together, play defense and play fast. We'll be fine if we do all that consistently."   It's still early in his process, but the college programs are starting to move in and position themselves early in the sweepstakes. Since mid-May, Costley has received offers from Georgia Tech, Mississippi Sate, Villanova and Virginia Tech.   "It's been amazing. It's amazing that I've gotten all this interest from all these schools based on my just working hard from when I was young to now. Villanova and Mississippi State were my first two high major offers, so they're special to me. I've always liked Villanova and have always watched them over the years."   Springdale played a total of seven games in the two weekends of DMV Live as those college programs who had offered Costley made their way court side in hopes that he confirmed the skill he'd shown off in May.   He led his team to a 5-2 record behind 15.9PPG and 6.1RPG, just missing the 50/40/90 mark in his splits, which ended up being 50/45/82.   Needless to say, those hopes of the program that had already offered were met as other power five programs in attendance took note of the rising sophomores skill.   Costley has made it difficult on the names trailing him in our 2029 rankings to dethrone him as the No. 1 prospect, but a lot can happen in the month of July, including Costley creating even more of a separation if he helps lead Thrill to another UA title.
