More than anything else, this Impact Sports Center Barr 16U team was a family. That bond showed up everywhere, from the way this group came together for that very first win as a full squad, to the way they dug in and battled through adversity against bigger, faster competition later in the season. It was clear from start to finish that this team was connected on a level that went beyond basketball.   A big part of that culture starts with the man leading the way. Coach Spencer Barr, who plays college basketball at Jamestown, brought a bright basketball mind along with genuine passion and enthusiasm to every practice and game. His ability to connect with his players while pushing them to grow shows he's a coach on the rise, and it's clear he has a bright future ahead in the coaching world if he continues down that path.   On the court, the results followed the chemistry. A trio of go-to scorers gave this team multiple ways to get a bucket when it mattered most, while quiet leaders found their voice and stepped into bigger roles as the season progressed. Down low, a tough post presence made life difficult on opponents, and when the offense really got rolling, this team was capable of putting on an absolute show from behind the arc.   Through the ups and downs, this group learned to trust each other, move the ball, and never get down when things got tough, lessons that will carry far beyond this season. "I enjoyed seeing these guys bond and become so close throughout the year. It truly feels like a brotherhood and a family every time these guys get together."   PHD: Can you tell us about a memorable play that sticks out to you?   "The very first game I was able to coach this team was very memorable for me. It was our first win together as a full team, and I can remember how passionate these guys were to get that win. It was super fun to see the team come together the way they did and pull out a big-time win."   PHD: Who was your "go-to" player when you needed a basket?   "Our three primary go-to players were [player_tooltip player_id='2853770' first='Cody' last='Strenge'], [player_tooltip player_id='3711666' first='Cooper' last='Sivesind'], and [player_tooltip player_id='3643339' first='Max' last='Bengford']. They always seemed to get a bucket whenever they wanted and were always in the right spots at the right time. Cody hit quite a few turnaround fadeaways that were almost impossible to block. Cooper has such a quick release and can get to the rim whenever he wants to, and last Max would always seem to get to his spot on the court wherever that would be."   PHD: Who was your most improved player?   "[player_tooltip player_id='2853763' first='Jamison' last='Neeley'] fits this question perfectly. At the beginning of the season, he was more so of a shy kid, and you wouldn't hear him a whole lot on the floor. After a few tournaments in, Jamison was our true vocal leader on the team, and he commanded the offensive sets in different possessions as well as controlling what we were in on defense, too."   PHD: How did the team improve from the start of the season to the end?   "Throughout the season, we definitely got better at moving the ball and trusting our other teammates that they could get a better shot off even if I had a decent look."   PHD: Who were a few of your hardest workers?   "It is so hard to pick just a few of our hardest workers looking back at all the work these guys put in throughout the season. We had many guys stay late after practice, putting in the extra work. I can remember a specific time when each of these players made a huge hustle play or had an impact that made them stand out."   PHD: Can you talk about a time when you and the team overcame adversity?   "We played against a team in Minnesota that was a lot bigger and faster than we were. We took this game to heart and the players dug in more than I have seen them all season. We were truly connected as one. There were a lot of ups and downs throughout this game, but we overcame many setbacks, including a few players missing, and ended up getting the win."   PHD: Who was your top post player?   "Our two exceptional post players were [player_tooltip player_id='2853769' first='Brecken' last='Jorgensen'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2855170' first='Levi' last='Jaeger']. What made these two so tough is that they made finishing at the rim extremely difficult for the opposing team. As much of a threat these guys were in the paint, they hit some timely 3-pointers for us when we needed one."   PHD: Were there any memorable buzzer-beaters, upsets, or clutch performances?   "We had a game at Impact against a solid out-of-state team where [player_tooltip player_id='2854617' first='Riley' last='Kuiper'] put on a masterclass from behind the arc. He poured in 8 3-pointers and ended the game with a career high of 30 points."   PHD: Who emerged as an unexpected contributor or breakout star?   "Everyone on the team played a crucial role and I always held each of them to a high standard. They delivered after every hard conversation. Everyone on the team was a star at one point this season."   PHD: What lessons from this season go beyond basketball?   "Never get down on yourself when times get tough. This was an ongoing lesson throughout the whole season for our team. As a coach, I applied this a lot in basketball terms, but this goes far beyond the box score, and this is something we can all take with us for the rest of our lives."   PHD: Any last comments?   "I feel super blessed to have coached such a great group of basketball players who are even more exceptional young men. These are relationships that I hope to carry on for the rest of our lives."
