Who Showed Out on Wednesday Morning at Nike Elite 100?

Full day of action began on Wednesday at Nike Elite 100 with a strong morning session of drills and games.  Here are the prospects who caught our attention.

Payton Wilson (Holy Cross, NY – 2028 – PSA Cardinals)

Wilson made the largest impression in the morning session as the 6'6” power forward scored 16 points.  Knocked down multiple wing threes showing the ability to stretch the floor.  Broad shouldered four that snatched rebounds, elite finisher out of dunker spot, and ran the floor consistently with purpose.  Bullied opponents around the hoop on both ends.

Amarion Smith-Holley (Link Academy, MO – 2028 – Mac Irvin Fire)

Smith-Holley is a former Illinois player who is off to prep school.  Always been a huge fan of the 6'0” point guard who makes up for his lack of ideal height with freakish athleticism.  So quick with the ball in his hands changing directions on the fly.  His passing has really taken a step forward when surrounded by high level players.  Hitting guys off live dribbles with either hand from a variety of angles.  Athletic rebounding guard who pushes the pace in transition.  Acrobatic finisher with great body control at the cup.  Plays with flair and is a spark plug defender as well.  He had 11 points.

Carter Smith (William Penn Charter, PA – 2028 – Team Final)

At 6'3” this east coast wing is a slender scoring guard with a wiry frame.  Plus length and was in attack mode consistently in the open floor pressing the issue getting to the cup.  Creative finisher with scoop shots, but can also throw down the hammer dunk when needed.  He had 7 points.

Chris Paul II (Campbell Hall, CA – 2028 – Team CP3)

The younger son of the future NBA Hall of Famer by the same name has so many of the same traits and moves of his father.  At 6'0” the lead guard from California has such a dynamic feel for the game.  He stood out in the skill work with his slick dishes, lob passing, and stellar pull up game being able to get to his spots stopping and popping on a dime.  Sound familiar?

Josiah Brooks (Slam Miami, FL – 2029 - Nightrydas)

Brooks was tied for the leading scorer on his team with 11 points in the game we caught.  What I like about him is the quick twitched athleticism as a guard that can knock down shots in the mid-range and win off the bounce for euro steps along with big dunks.

Xavier Skipworth (Montverde, FL – 2028 – Team Takeover)

Skipworth also dropped 11 points in their contest.  Good three point shooter that is at his best spotting up from deep then letting it fly.  At 6'4” projects as three and D wing at this stage with room to continue to grow physically and in his game.

Mmesoma Ndubisi (Bella Vista Prep, AZ – 2027 – AZ Unity)

The only 2027 prospect in the camp was this AZ Unity 6'5” power forward.  Showed some stuff we liked with his ability to stretch the floor, high-motor on the offensive glass, and blocking shots.

Javez Coleby (Veritas Academy, CA – 2029 – Team WhyNot)

Coleby is a strong bodied physical five man that throws his strength around in the paint.  Put back on the offensive glass along with showing touch on a nice looking hook shot.

Majok Mayuen Ater (Principia, MO – 2029 – Brad Beal Elite)

Principia 6'8” five man is one of the most intriguing 2029 prospects at the camp.  Lengthy center that is an elite rim runner and fluid athlete catching passes on the move for dunks along with throwing down massive slams.  High-motor big man that has explosive second jump to the offensive glass.  Defensively has all the traits to be an impact rim protector.  He had 9 points.

Marceles Duncan (Rangeview, CO – 2028 – Legynds)

Duncan popped as a thick bodied wing who caught multiple lob slams, puts it on the deck with physicality on slashes, and is capable shooter.  He had 9 points.

MJ Postell (St. Benedicts Prep, NJ – 2029 – PSA Cardinals)

Postell is a scrappy guard that is more than willing to stick his nose in on the glass for second chance points.

Jordan Jackson (St. Xavier, KY – 2028 – All Ohio Red)

Jackson is a big time athlete at 6'6” with a long and lanky frame.  The combo forward threw down massive dunks one after another.  He was a monster in transition with his play above the rim!

JJ Sati-Grier (Sierra Canyon, CA – 2028 – Team WhyNot)

Sati-Grier continues to shine as the west coast lead guard is such a crafty ball handler getting to his spots for pull ups off ball screens, soft touch finishes, and hesis for layups.  Quick with the rock in his hands and also makes those around him better as he had 8 points.

Damien Robinson (St Paul VI, MD – 2028 – Boo Williams)

Robinson has that “it” factor at the lead guard spot.  Kid is a guy that others want to follow.  Pushes the pace in transition, creative passer off live dribbles, and can knock down a shot from three draining a trio of them in a 13 point outing.

Maxxwell Thorpe (Northfield Mount Hermon, MA – 2028 – Expressions)

Thorpe is a 6'9” five man from the northeast who has been outstanding as a screener along with pick/roll finisher at the cup.  Runs the floor extremely hard and is nifty around the cup.

Monta Ellis (Walnut Grove, TX – 2028 – Pro Skills)

Ellis is also the son of a 2000's NBA guard and he has major game as well.  At 6'1” he can knock down shots with consistency from three along with showcasing crisp handles in a performance where he had 9 points.

Bryson Jatta (Hillgrove, GA – 2028 – Georgia Stars)

The Hillgrove High School product out of Georgia is a PG that finishes well in the lane with up and unders through traffic.  Also drained a three in the game we caught.

Jordan McDaniel (Roseville, MI – 2029 – The Family)

Slick handling 5'9” lead guard is a blur with the ball in the open floor pushing coast to coast for scores or getting fouled.  Mixed in 15 footers, dimes off live dribbles, and has such a good feel for the game.  He had 10 points.

Marque Johnson Jr (The Lawrenceville School, NJ – 2028 – NY Rens)

The 6'5” combo forward from New Jersey was super active in the game we caught with his cutting off the ball, strength in the paint, and nifty finishing moves around the cup.  He had 8 points.

Gaossou Samake (Christ the King – 2028 – NY Lightning)

Samake is a 6'6” power forward who runs the floor with ease while finishing out of the dunker spot with force.  Went for 7 points.

Mamadou Issa Sow (Bella Vista Prep, AZ – 2029 – AZ Unity)

Love the potential that Issa Sow continues to showcase on the defensive end.  At 6'8” 203 pounds this five man is a plus plus shot blocker that moves his feet and walls up inside.  Brings mobility and athleticism on that end of the floor.
