The University of New Orleans Basketball Team Camp always serves as a premier battleground for regional talent to showcase their growth before the high school season kicks into gear. This year, one of the most eye-opening performances came out of the Magnolia State, courtesy of Gulfport High School's 2028 big man, Travor Frost. Even as one of the younger prospects in the building, Frost firmly established himself as an absolute load to handle down low, turning heads among coaches.
Frost's performance at the UNO camp highlighted a unique combination of raw physical power and advanced finesse that is rare for a player in the 2028 class. When defenders tried to play him straight up, he consistently dictated the terms of engagement in the paint. Frost physically overwhelmed matching defenders. Once he established deep post position, his ability to absorb contact and finish through traffic made him a near-automatic bucket or a walking trip to the free-throw line.
He is far from just a physical bruiser. Frost showcased remarkably nimble footwork in the low and mid-post. When opposing teams tried to counter his strength by throwing quicker, smaller defenders at him, he used his pivot game and leverage to overpower them cleanly. Perhaps the most intriguing aspect of his camp performance was his ability to exploit traditional, slower big men. Frost demonstrated the confidence and handle to put the ball on the floor, comfortably attacking lumbering defenders off the bounce from the high post or short corner.
As Gulfport High School prepares for its upcoming campaign, Frost's versatility gives them a dynamic interior anchor to build around. His dominant showing on the UNO campus proves he isn't just a prospect with high upside—he is an efficient, high-impact interior piece right now. If this camp performance was any indication, regional programs need to put a prominent circle next to Travor Frost's name. The 2028 class has a serious heavyweight competitor rising out of Gulfport.

McDonogh 35 has a track record of producing tough, gritty athletes, and 2027 shooting guard [player_tooltip player_id='2700453' first='Wayne' last='Nevels'] looked like the next inline during his performance at the University of New Orleans Team Camp. Nevels put together an extremely impressive weekend, proving to be one of the more versatile and impactful perimeter prospects in his class. On the defensive end, Nevels was an absolute disruptor. He possesses great instincts off the ball, reading the eyes of opposing quarterbacks and playing the passing lanes extremely well to trigger fast breaks. His anticipation allowed him to blow up plays before they could develop, turning defensive stops into instant offense.
Offensively, Nevels is a highly efficient scorer from the midrange inward. He has a tight handle and uses his athleticism to get to his spots, showing great touch on pull-ups and a strong finishing package around the rim. While his inside-the-arc game is highly advanced for a rising. Senior, expanding his range and consistency from the three-point line will be the key development area that can elevate his recruiting ceiling from a regional target to a high-major prospect. Nevels is a high-upside two-way guard who plays with a motor. If the perimeter jump shot catches up to his elite midrange scoring and defensive instincts, he will be a handful for defenses next season.

Kevaughn Stack, a rising Senior wing/forward out of John Ehret High School, coming off a highly productive first half of the grassroots summer season playing up with Cooz Elite 17U on the circuit, Stack entered the Privateers' team camp playing with a noticeable edge and an abundance of confidence. Before the ball is even tipped, Stack passes the look-test with flying colors. He possesses a physically imposing frame, excellent length, and natural size that immediately commands the attention of college coaches walking into the gym. For a prospect entering his junior year, his raw physical profile gives him a massive head start on the defensive end and on the glass, allowing him to absorb contact and physically outmatch standard high school matching pieces. What makes Stack's physical tools translate into actual production right now is his competitive motor. He doesn't coast on his size. Throughout the camp, he consistently ran the floor hard in transition, pursued out-of-area rebounds, and locked in defensively. His energy was infectious for John Ehret, establishing a physical tone in the paint and routinely making winning plays through sheer effort and second-chance opportunities.
While Stack's floor is remarkably high due to his physical traits and high-running engine, his ceiling will ultimately be dictated by his growth on the offensive side of the ball.
Currently, his game is heavily reliant on transition buckets, drop-downs, and put-backs. To fully maximize his breakout potential and transition into a true priority recruit, Stack needs to dedicate significant time to refining his offensive tool kit.
The Bottom Line: Stack is playing with the supreme confidence of a player who knows he belongs, a clear byproduct of his valuable spring run with Cooz Elite. He has all the unteachable traits—size, frame, and an active motor. If the offensive polish catches up to his physical dominance over the next twelve months, the John Ehret product has a chance to skyrocket up the local rankings and become one of the more coveted 2027 prospects in the boot.

One of the most intriguing storylines of the U.N.O. camp belonged to Madison High School, spearheaded by the steady hand and elite two-way instincts of Jamarlon Harrison.
As a rising prospect in the Class of 2027, Harrison didn't just participate—he dictated the terms of every game he stepped into, establishing himself as a highly effective table setter and a major problem on the wing. Harrison's performance was defined by an elite understanding of pace. In a team camp setting where games often devolve into chaotic, full-court track meets, Harrison played with a mature composure that kept Madison in constant control.
He proved to be incredibly elusive in the open floor, using an unpredictable handle and sharp change-of-direction to leave trailing defenders in his wake. Rather than forcing the issue, Harrison operates with an internal metronome, slowing the game down to let plays develop or suddenly shifting gears to slice through the teeth of the defense. As a primary table setter, his vision and ability to read help-side rotations ensured his teammates got clean looks in rhythm all weekend. Harrison's standout weekend at UNO proved that he is rapidly evolving from a promising young prospect into an impactful, focal leader for Madison High School. With his rare blend of elite wing defense, shifty scoring, and high-IQ playmaking, the 2027 guard has set a high standard for his recruiting trajectory moving into the upcoming high school season.

Class of 2027 guard Denzel Jackson from Gulfport High School (MS) who consistently stole the show, lighting up the floor with a lethal display of high-octane guard play. Jackson, a 5'9" dynamic playmaker, proved to be absolutely electric in every sense of the word. Jackson plays with a distinct shift in gears that leaves opposing defenders stuck in the mud. His first step is pure lightning; he collapses defensive shells the second a defender plays him too tight or over-anticipates a screen. At the UNO camp, teams throwing standard man-to-man look at Gulfport quickly realized they couldn't keep Jackson out of the paint without immediate help-side rotation. What makes Jackson such a headache for a coaching staff to game-plan against is that he isn't just a straight-line speed merchant. He is a highly creative, poised shot-maker. He utilized a tight handle, vicious hesitations, and step-backs to pull up comfortably from the mid-range and behind the arc. When the game slows down into half-court execution, Jackson has the rare ability to manufacture clean looks out of nothing.
Despite giving up size on paper, Jackson finishes with the strength, fearlessness, and body control of a veteran guard. Once he gets downhill, he uses exceptional deceleration and craftiness—utilizing high-arching floaters, euro-steps, and standard rim-reads—to score over rotating length. He welcomes the contact, protects the rock, and routinely converts tough and-one opportunities. The Takeaway is Denzel Jackson didn't just compete on the lakefront; he dictated terms. For college programs looking for a twitchy, fearless competitor who can anchor a backcourt, create his own offense, and collapse defenses at will, the Gulfport product validated his status as a high-priority name to track closely throughout the remaining summer evaluation periods.
