Stock Risers: New Point Guard Prospects Added to 2028 Rankings

The spring grassroots season provided an opportunity to evaluate hundreds of prospects across the state, and several members of the Class of 2028 made significant strides in their development. Whether through improved skill sets, increased production, physical growth, or strong performances against high level competition, these players elevated their stock and earned a place in our <a href="https://prephoops.com/virginia/rankings/2028-rankings/" id="https://prephoops.com/virginia/rankings/2028-rankings/">Updated 2028 Rankings</a>.    Hooks is a lead guard with good positional size who showcased his talent this spring while competing with New World on the adidas 3SSB circuit. He possesses strong court vision and does an excellent job seeing the floor, finding open teammates, and creating opportunities for others. A capable playmaker with the ball in his hands, Hooks understands how to run a team and make sound decisions in the half court. He is also a reliable perimeter shooter who can knock down open shots and keep defenses honest.     Fitch is a quick, skilled lead guard who is establishing himself as one of the more intriguing high academic prospects in the class. An All-Region selection at Kellam this season, he followed it up with a strong spring playing for Team Loaded 757. Fitch is very comfortable with the basketball in his hands, showing the ability to create offense, make plays for others, and control the pace of the game. He is a creative finisher around the basket, using his quickness, body control, and touch to score in traffic. Defensively, his length, strength, and activity level allow him to impact the game on the perimeter, while his improving perimeter shot makes him a threat from multiple areas of the floor. With his combination of skill, toughness, athletic tools, and basketball pedigree, his father was an accomplished college player, Fitch is a prospect with upside moving forward.     Colligan is a smart, heady lead guard who consistently demonstrates a good feel for the game and a mature approach to the position. He is comfortable with the basketball in his hands, makes sound decisions, and does a good job controlling tempo while keeping his team organized. Colligan plays with toughness and competitiveness. His perimeter shooting continues to improve, making him a more complete offensive threat and opening up additional opportunities as both a scorer and playmaker. With an expanded role expected this summer and next season for one of the nation's premier programs, Colligan is well positioned to continue his development.     An Honorable Mention All-Area selection, Edwards is an athletic lead guard who brings value on both ends of the floor. He has the ability to run a team, handle primary ball handling responsibilities, and make sound decisions with the basketball, but his biggest impact often comes on the defensive end. Edwards is an active, disruptive defender who uses his athleticism, quickness, and competitiveness to pressure opposing guards and create turnovers. He also rebounds exceptionally well for his position, consistently helping his team finish possessions and ignite transition opportunities.     Casey is a skilled lead guard who continues to trend upward in the state's 2028 recruiting class. He changes speeds effectively, keeping defenders off balance and creating opportunities for himself and his teammates. Reliable with the basketball in his hands, Casey makes sound decisions, takes care of the ball, and shows a strong understanding of how to manage the game. His perimeter shooting has shown steady improvement, adding another dimension to his offensive skill set.
