The dog days of the evaluation circuit are officially behind us, and we have entered the meat-grinder stretch of the summer calendar. This weekend wasn't about polished five-stars executing pristine, highly choreographed reps. It wasn't about the kids whose names are already safe at the top of national recruiting boards. No, this weekend belonged to the hunters. When you sit in the bleachers or stand along the complex baseline for hours and standard "good" play starts to blur together. It takes something violent, something undeniable, to wake up a row of exhausted scouts gripping lukewarm coffees. You are looking for the player who dictates the terms of the game—the one who refuses to let an official, a defender, or a ranking system keep them quiet.

The Ultimate "Glue Guy" — Every winning program needs a player willing to sacrifice individual stats for team success, and Higgins completely embodies that identity. A high-IQ, relentless worker who projects as a culture-setter at the next level. Higgins consistently makes winning plays that don't always show up on a standard stat sheet. He excels at diving for loose balls, setting hard screens, boxing out aggressively, and rotating early on team defense. His motor runs hot, and his willingness to do the physical, unglamorous dirty work makes him an invaluable asset to his coaches and teammates. He possesses a strong frame and uses it to establish physical leverage against older or larger opponents. Around the basket, Higgins is highly efficient. He has an advanced understanding of spacing, cutting hard off the ball when guards penetrate, and finding soft spots in the paint. He absorbs contact well and converts at a high clip around the rim, showing soft hands and a quick second-jump on the offensive glass. Because of his functional strength and defensive instincts, Higgins can anchor a defense or match up across multiple frontcourt positions. He fights for inside positioning constantly, showing a clear nose for the ball on both the defensive and offensive glass. As an underclassman in a highly competitive Catholic League (District 9-5A), Higgins is already demonstrating the physical blueprint and competitive makeup that collegiate programs look for.

Jones is an intriguing, high-motor interior prospect in the class of 2028 who plays with a relentless competitive edge. While he projects as an undersized big man for the next level, he consistently outworks bigger opponents and possesses the functional athletic traits that translate well to high-tempo, modern offensive systems. Jones features exceptionally soft hands, catching cleanly in traffic and absorbing contact without losing his handle. He is an efficient finisher around the rim, utilizing clever angles and a soft touch to convert highly contested look-ins. One of his most translatable collegiate traits is how exceptionally well he runs the floor. Jones consistently beats opposing bigs down the court in transition, creating early offense as a primary rim-runner and putting immediate pressure on defenses before they can set up. He demonstrates good, quick feet anchored by a strong base. This footwork makes him effective as a roll-man in pick-and-roll packages and gives him the lateral agility required to recover defensively when pulled away from the paint.
Jamarcus Jones is a classic "paint warrior" whose motor and mobility compensate for his current lack of elite positional height. College programs utilizing a fast-break, screen-and-roll heavy offense will want to monitor his developmental trajectory early in his high school career. As his face-up game expands over the next couple of seasons, his stock in the region should steadily climb.

An intriguing, high-upside young prospect out of the competitive New Orleans prep circuit who is already flashing varsity-level traits before even entering high school. McCall possesses an advanced feel for scoring inside the paint for a prospect in his class. He handles physical interior defense exceptionally well, showing a deliberate approach when operating in heavy traffic. Playing within a great program like Brother Martin, McCall's natural tools will only be amplified by elite coaching and a structured strength program. He already exhibits the functional strength and core stability required to battle inside against older prospects, projects as a versatile asset as his frame fills out.
McCall is a definitive "buy-in early" prospect for staff tracking the Gulf South region. The combination of secure hands, interior toughness, and soft touch around the basket gives him an incredibly strong foundation to build on. He is a high-priority tracking name for the Class of 2029.

Taylor is a high-IQ, high-efficiency perimeter weapon emerging out of the Catholic League (District 9-5A). Playing in one of the state's toughest, most physical prep environments, he has quickly proven he can compete against older, more physically mature prospects without blinking. He provides elite structural value to an offense as a highly specialized floor-spacer who commands gravity, particularly from the corners. He displays excellent footwork on the catch, stepping into his shot cleanly with a quick, repeatable release point. He keeps his hands ready and does not dip the ball, making his release highly resilient against hard closeouts. Grayson is mentally sharp on the defensive end. He executes team concepts, understands low man help side responsibilities, and communicates well off the ball.
Grayson is a Class of 2028 prospect to keep on the radar early. The premium on shooting in modern college basketball makes premium baseline spacers highly valuable. If his physical frame and off-the-dribble counters catch up to his current shooting baseline, he projects as a very attractive collegiate target out of Louisiana.

[player_tooltip player_id='2894808' first='Joe' last='Morgan'] is the quintessential "table setter" and a coach's favorite type of point guard. A pure floor general in the Class of 2028, Morgan acts as an extension of the coaching staff on the floor. He is a natural leader, distributor, and team captain whose extreme confidence and composure make him the type of player teammates will willingly follow into hostile, high-pressure environments. A highly shifty, playmaking guard who thrives at keeping the game entirely under his control. He excels in transition, pushing the break with high-level court vision while balancing aggressive playmaking with excellent decision-making.
Morgan is a high-IQ, tough-nosed floor general with definitive lead-guy potential at the next level. His statistical impact—anchoring his team in assists while remaining an active threat on the glass and in the passing lanes—makes him an incredibly high-value target early in the 2028 recruiting cycle. He handles chaos with complete poise and makes winning plays. His ceiling is exceptionally high.
