<p>Saturday, Prep Hoops tipped off its Oklahoma State Tournament, and my coverage began with the 13U–15U age divisions at The Hive. The day featured plenty of talented young players looking to make an impact, and several stood out with strong performances on both ends of the floor. Listed below are five players who earned Top Performer recognition from my opening day notes.</p>

<p>This left-handed guard that did a great job attacking the basket and finishing at the rim. What stood out most was the change of pace off the dribble, allowing him to create separation and gain a first-step advantage against defenders. Once he turned the corner, he showed confidence getting downhill and putting pressure on the defense.</p>

<p>His effort on the defensive end was equally impressive. He competed on every possession, stayed active, and consistently worked to make things difficult for opposing ball handlers. The combination of size, athleticism, and motor made him one of the more noticeable players on the floor.</p>

<p>A member of the Class of 2030, he stood out not only in Saturday's action but throughout the tournament, showing the tools and potential that make him a player worth being among the Top Performers .</p>

<p>[player_tooltip player_id='3632550' first='Rafael' last='Calvillo'] was one of those players who immediately stood out because of his effort, energy, and hustle. He found ways to impact the game in multiple areas, scoring through jumpers, cuts to the basket, and by tracking down long rebounds. No matter where the ball was on the floor, Calvillo seemed to have a knack for being involved in the play.</p>

<p>Defensively, he brought a physical presence and competed hard on every possession. He did a solid job containing drives, challenged opponents with toughness, and never shied away from contact. His willingness to dive on the floor and battle for 50/50 balls highlighted the type of competitor he is.</p>

<p>Calvillo is the kind of player coaches like to have on the court because he consistently makes things happen. Whether it is creating extra possessions, making hustle plays, or providing timely scoring, his motor and determination help elevate the team around him. </p>

<p>A long and athletic 6'3" prospect who seemed even taller because of his impressive wingspan. His timing around the basket was outstanding, allowing him to consistently alter and block shots throughout the weekend. Defensively, he was a major presence in the paint and around the rim.</p>

<p>He proved to be a strong rebounder, going off two feet to secure rebounds at their highest point. His relentless effort on the glass helped him steal extra possessions for his team, often converting them into put-back baskets. .</p>

<p>Offensively, he knocked down a nice mid-range jumper and did an excellent job moving without the basketball, cutting into open spaces for scoring opportunities. With his length, athleticism, and developing offensive skill set, he projects as a long wing and potential three-position player at the next level.</p>

<p>With his long wingspan and strong understanding of defensive rotations, this prospect stood out as a rim protector throughout the game. He consistently put himself in the right position to help on drives, challenge shots, and provide support on the back side of the defense.</p>

<p>His instincts away from the ball were equally impressive. He recorded several deflections that turned into steals and easy scoring opportunities in transition. His ability to read passing lanes and anticipate plays made him a disruptive force on the defensive end.</p>

<p>His presence was especially noticeable while playing the second line of the press. Opponents had a difficult time throwing over the top to advance the basketball because of his length and activity. </p>

<p>On the boards, he brought the same level of effort and toughness. A scrappy rebounder, he consistently battled for loose balls and secured extra possessions for his team. The relentless hustle made him one of the more impactful players on the floor.</p>

<p>One of the first things that stood out was his athletic ability and motor. Early in the game, he crashed the boards from the three-point line for a tip-in basket, setting the tone for the type of effort he would bring throughout the contest. His energy never seemed to slow down, consistently impacting the game from start to finish.</p>

<p>He was active on both ends of the floor, making his presence felt on the glass with offensive put-backs while also providing valuable help defense that altered and challenged shots around the basket. </p>

<p>With the ball in his hands, he showed the ability to handle and create from the top of the key. A nice change of pace allowed him to get by defenders and attack the rim for finishes in traffic. He is the type of player who gives maximum effort for all 94 feet and finds ways to impact winning beyond the stat sheet.</p>
