NorCal High School Classic Prospect Spotlight

These are some of the prospects we'll get a look at during the Nor Cal High School Classic at Mountain House gym on June 6-7.    He's a 6'6 PF works mostly from the high and low post position. He'll find a the cutter, or shooter, he'll swing it around to the other side He slides down to the low block, present himself as a target. He has the body, improving footwork. The lefty can use a dribble or two, with a spin to get his shot. He does okay around the basket, boxes out. He has the size to be a good low post defender.     He's an improving prospect standing 6'7. He has lengthy arms, footspeed and plays with a good amount of energy. His overall skill set could use some sharpening. He has the length to defend in the post, and footspeed out on the perimeter. He can work the high post passing, screening to free up guards.He executes the pick and roll, can post up on the low block. He'll rebound, and finish with extra effort, a quick second jump.     Harmon is working under our radar. Standing 6'6 with a basketball body, long rangy with square shoulders, a frame to fill. He has a growing skill set, can do multiple things on the court. He plays the high, mid and low post, can be effective from each spot. He makes use of his body, shielding the ball using one or two dribbles to finish around the rim. He helps relieve pressure, handles in open court, makes long passes up court. He takes up space defensively.     A prospect we don't see often from the Modesto Area. A long rangy prospect, a noticeable wingspan, and a frame to build upon. At some point he could be labeled a stretch four or just a wing. He's comfortable putting up 3's on the perimeter for catch and shoot. He has the ability to score into the paint using his length, needs to get stronger. He takes up space in the paint, talks, can change a few shots, get rebounds.     Ward could the best 3-point shooting big man standing 6'9 in NorCal. He's still transforming and conditioning his body. He's an effective player but can use more footwork and skill development in the post area. He can be forceful when locked in. He's an improving post defender. He has the tools to be a double double.     He's an active and alert post defender sees the court. Arms extended takes up space, ready to slide over to help or challenge a shots, he boxes out. He's a good size target on the low block shows his hands, stance, balance will power up or kick it out. He runs to the high post, sets screens, reverses the ball, goes down to work for offensive rebounds.     He's an active player, always in the mix on one side of the other. He doesn't get enough credit for being an excellent screener. He frees up guards, helps shooters get open looks. always looking to set screens, for shooters, and guards trying to free them up or get open looks. He heads down to the basket to work the boards. He's a passer, and a cutter, can finish through contact around the rim. He works hard defending his position, rebounding and filling lanes. He's shot ready, drives plants, plays off two feet.
