27' And 28' Impactful Power Forwards At Crossroads Showcase

The Midwest Crossroads Showcase took place this past weekend in Normal, IL. Plenty of next level coaches were in attendance taking in games all weekend long to get their eyes on prospects for their respective programs. I had the opportunity to watch over 40 teams compete. In this article, we will take a look at evaluations from a half dozen power forwards that had positive showings.    Watched team play in early morning Saturday contest. High-motor forward that impacted through effort and physicality. Battled consistently in the paint for rebounds or to fight for locations. Tallied him for at least 3 offensive rebounds while two of those were for put back conversions. Showed awareness as a passer for size while ball screening then popping out for a knock down 3. Bought positive consistent energy throughout with toughness.     A long and versatile forward that showed some signs of flashiness in a few areas in late evening game on Saturday. Runs the court with pace and energy keeping up with guards. Helped assist in a 20-point come back with activity level in multiple phases. Finished consistently in the full and half court setting. Converted on an and1 breakaway and took it himself for a bucket on a coast-to-coast lay in. Comfortable getting to the rack and utilizing his wingspan to finish over size. Will be an additional asset to keep tabs on for Barbs during senior campaign.     Another versatile power forward for Bettendorf that impacted the game both ways with blend of IQ and reads. Comfortable on catch and shoots from 3 to spread the floor out and make bigs come out to guard. His length gives him advantage in multiple areas. Had an o board then dish off to a cutter and also made a cut through the lane to retrieve it and score. Defensively can guard on the interior or above perimeter with long strides and competent lateral feet. Small details made big impacts for Gray on both sides of the ball and will be differentiator moving forward.     A long and lanky frame who impacted on both sides of the ball during team's mid afternoon game on Sunday. Liked the way he was able to stretch the floor at times for a couple spot up 3 balls. Shot looked confident and in rhythm. Consistently stuck around the glass for boarding opportunities while utilizing wingspan. Defensively will also use frame to advantage to get into the passing lanes and cause disruption. Runs the floor competitively in transition during break phase.     Caught Woodsen for 1 full game and another half game during the 3 day weekend. In first game he played vs more size and held more than his own. A long and lanky forward who can stretch the floor at times with balance and awareness. Has plus wingspan that will provide more upside as time comes along with a built out frame. Moves off the ball well and converted on a cut through the lane line for and1. Sticks around the glass for boarding purposes and will wall up defensively on drives to help change shot trajectories. Versatile forward to keep tabs on next two years.     A strong and athletic built frame that makes presence felt with physicality and effort. Rim protected with a clean block while consistently crashing the glass on both sides. Came away with second chance points off of offensive rebounds. Also finished on a crafty reverse layup from the dunker spot showing his athleticism and poise. Defensively jumped the passing lane for a steal then sprinted the floor to lay it up off the catch on the other end. Will be an underrated but high IQ post presence for Barbs while leading with hustle, strength, and selfless play.
