2028 Prospect Update: Class AAA Metro New Names

Who led Orono in assists? The lone sophomore on the team last winter, [player_tooltip player_id='2417236' first='Gavin' last='Doherty']. Who was a top five scorer for the [program_tooltip program_id='2075852' first='Spartans' last='']? Gavin with his 48 percent shooting. Defense? Led Orono in steals. And Doherty is playing really well for Fury Shephard who continues to be one of the tougher teams in Minnesota to face. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='2850251' first='Cooper' last='Johnson'] of St. Paul Highland Park. Johnson is a 5'10 guard that played a role off the bench last year scoring a couple baskets a game and played his role well. Highland Park is a real up and comer in the St. Paul City Conference and Johnson's role has a chance to increase as an upperclassmen on an improving team.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='3587899' first='Frankie' last='Labore'] of South St. Paul. Frankie is a 6'3 wing that spent his winter playing some varsity when the Packers went nine/ten deep and of course playing JV. Had a seven point game versus Denfeld this year and we think his varsity role could increase as a junior. A player that will work for his points in a variety of ways. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='2604367' first='Lucas' last='Larsen'] of Minneapolis Roosevelt. A 5'10 guard that played some varsity and some JV last year, Larsen is an intelligent playmaker for the Teddies that will make for a great pair with [player_tooltip player_id='2461870' first='Landen' last='Knox'] for two more seasons. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='2955364' first='Ian' last='Nelson'] of Richfield. The [program_tooltip program_id='2075852' first='Spartans' last=''] went to seven or eight guys when the season got deeper and the games were bigger, but it's a 30 plus game season for good teams and you need to go deeper in the middle of the season. When they did, Nelson was the 9th man for Richfield playing as a six foot guard. Plus when you are really good, you blow teams out and Nelson got a chance to play extended varsity including the ten points against Columbia heights. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='2731249' first='William' last='Russell'] of Mahtomedi. We don't know what the Zephyr line-up is going to look like but we know that graduation will force changes. Russell is a player we have seen before in PH events doing a great job moving the ball, making decisions, and helping his team run a strong halfcourt offense. With the Zephyrs having ten returning JV/V players and only a few with experience, Russell has a chance to work his way to time. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
