Southern Illinois Spring Showcase 2027 Prospects

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><em>***Use Code “ScottyB30” for 30% off your subscription***</em></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Tuesday evening I was at Rend Lake College for the Southern Illinois Spring Showcase featuring prospects from across the 618!&nbsp; Here I dive into the 2027 prospects at the event!</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2383402' first='Jagger' last='Mayville'] (Waltonville – 2027)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Mayville is among the best post players in southern Illinois from the 2027 class.&nbsp; He showed exactly that in this setting.&nbsp; Plus athlete at 6'6” with a long and wiry frame.&nbsp; Face up four man that was effective in one on ones with his quick first step along with being able to shoot the ball.&nbsp; Explosive finisher that threw down some rim rattling dunks throughout the night.&nbsp; Quickness off the ground is impressive.&nbsp; Snatches rebounds in traffic.&nbsp; Runs the floor with ease and can shoot it from beyond the arc with a nice looking lefty shot.&nbsp; D2s should be taking a look here!</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='3553053' first='Micah' last='Griffo'] (Mascoutah – 2027)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Griffo had a big night as the 6'0” point guard from Mascoutah lit up the nets!&nbsp; This was a prospect I was excited to see as I haven't evaluated him since late January and he has gotten even better since then.&nbsp; Plays taller than height with his long arms.&nbsp; Feathery touch on his jumper as he poured them in from three pulling up on a consistent basis throughout the night.&nbsp; More than just a shooter those as he is a slick ball handler who hits gaps getting in the paint for acrobatic layups.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2384011' first='Bennett' last='Becker'] (Breese Central – 2027)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Becker has been a stock riser this spring as his perimeter game continues to improve each time out.&nbsp; At 6'4” with a thick frame he brings physicality as a small forward that should be a nice addition at the small college level.&nbsp; He plays so hard flying all over the place on both ends.&nbsp; Crashes the glass hard.&nbsp; When we saw him a few weeks back it was his shot making that stood out, but in this camp setting he was set on using his bully ball drives to go right through defenders for scores in the paint.&nbsp; Crisp ball handler with a nice float game.&nbsp; Skilled passer as well being able to read things on the move.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2125643' first='Jaxson' last='Hancock'] (Centralia – 2027)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>One of the best point guards in the rising senior class from southern Illinois.&nbsp; This high IQ 6'2” point guard really understands the game with his vision and passing feel both in an up and down setting along with the half court.&nbsp; As always his pull up jumper was on point as he poured in an array of threes and mid-range shots.&nbsp; Scrappy rebounder for a lead guard.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2383995' first='Braylen' last='Turner'] (Okawville – 2027)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Long and lanky guard at 6'3” with physical projectability.&nbsp; Turner has such a pure shooting stroke from the perimeter with turn around jumpers in the mid-range flowing throughout the night along with stretching it out to three.&nbsp; Smooth ball handler who can play effectively both on and off the ball.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Boston Boaz (Hickman County, KY – 2027)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Really liked what we saw out of this 6'5” small forward from Kentucky.&nbsp; Super high academic kid that has a great frame and length.&nbsp; Tough rebounder that crashed the glass and shot it pretty well off the bounce on the night.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2831746' first='Austin' last='Swalley'] (Greenville – 2027)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>This 6'1” guard from Greenville is a lead guard who is scrappy on the defensive end of the floor.&nbsp; On the offensive end he is so crafty round the cup as a finisher with reverse layups and floaters.&nbsp; Got in the lane pretty consistently throughout the evening.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
