Southeast Bigs Making a Name for Themselves this Spring

The Southeast continues to be a hotbed for talented front court play, and this spring has been no exception. Across gyms and tournaments, a wave of skilled, physical, and versatile big men have emerged and are starting to turn heads with their production and potential.    Stokes is a physical big with a versatile offensive game and a game changing presence on the interior. He's capable of stepping away from the basket to knock down midrange jumpers, while also showing polished footwork and soft touch around the rim. Inside, he scores with patience and control, using his size effectively in the post and his athleticism to play above the rim. He gets a ton of easy dunks just by being in the right spots and following misses. Defensively, he protects the rim well and alters shots with his length and timing, making him a offensive rebounding threat. His combination of skill, physicality, and interior impact makes him a valuable piece on both ends of the floor.     Awusanta is fresh off a big decision to reclass into the 2029 class, giving him another year of development and fine-tuning to an already high upside college prospect. His strong build and understanding of the game make him a threat to put up a 20 and 15 type performance anytime he steps on the floor. His strength allows him to be a high-level screen setter while also giving him the ability to battle down low and establish position inside. His polished footwork and deep bag of moves on the block make him a serious interior scoring threat. I'd advise coaches to make a note to check Awusanta out this summer while on the recruiting trail.     Jeanlouis is the type of big man who impacts the game with nonstop energy and effort every time he's on the floor. He plays with a high motor, constantly flying around the glass and creating extra possessions with his work on offensive rebounds. Around the basket, he shows good footwork and patience, using pivots, step throughs, and strong finishes to score inside. What really stands out is his versatility defensively, as he has the mobility and size to switch onto multiple positions and hold his own. He's not limited to just the paint either, showing touch from the perimeter and knocking down a couple of big threes that shifted momentum. Jeanlouis brings toughness, activity, and skill to the floor, and he's the kind of prospect college coaches should have firmly on their radar.     Nelson is a skilled interior player who brings a nice touch around the basket along with the ability to step out and knock down shots from the perimeter. He can stretch the floor with a reliable stroke from beyond, forcing bigger defenders to guard him away from the paint. As an athletic big, he runs the floor well in transition and is capable of finishing plays above the rim when he gets downhill. Inside, he plays with a strong physical presence, using his body effectively to establish position and create space. He also has go to moves that allow him to score through contact or punish mismatches. With his blend of size, skill, and versatility, Nelson provides scoring options from multiple areas on the court.     Lee is a long, athletic wing/forward who combines a strong frame with an impressive wingspan, allowing him to impact the game in multiple ways. He does a good job pushing the tempo in transition, handling the ball comfortably in the open floor and creating advantages off the dribble. Defensively, he competes with energy and toughness, showing the ability to get low in a stance and hold his own against quicker perimeter players. His versatility on that end allows him to switch and guard multiple positions when needed. Offensively, Lee also brings value in the post, where he uses soft hands and good positioning to finish around the rim. He's reliable catching passes in traffic and converting inside opportunities with touch and control.
