Prep Hoops Live: 2028 High Motor Combo Guards

The annual Prep Hoops Live event took place this past weekend. I was in Batavia taking in games from the 2028 and 2029 divisions. Teams across the Midwest states were in attendance including Colorado, Tennessee, Michigan, Wisconsin, Illinois, Minnesota and Indiana. In this article let's take a deeper dive into some of the top 2028 combo guards that bought a lot of energy to the floor.    Another athletic guard from Ajam that brings explosiveness and activity to the floor. Watched during Friday evenings game and went strong dribble baseline and nearly two-handed dunked one off two feet. Has plus vertical and bounce for height. Was quick off the bounce as well adding a smooth pull up mid range jumper and a pull up three. Utilized jumping ability with a quick o board put back and a clean block. Gets after it on both sides of the ball with positive energy.     Active two way guard that impacts in multiple areas on the court. Watched compete during team's Friday game and stayed engaged throughout during a high fast paced contest. A scoring threat who can score it from inside and out. Knocked down multiple threes while also creating off penetration. Showed good feel in transition with strong pitch ahead passes or drop offs for assists. Will jump passing lanes to create turnovers and completed a tough chase down clean block. Competes wholeheartedly with instinct and anticipation for game.     Dynamic scoring guard with wiggle and craft. Pushes pace to create offense in transition. Finished on multiple breakaway layups including an and1 and a big spot up three to beat the buzzer at half. Reads gaps off of zone o as a strong passer and utilizes quick first step burst to get downhill effectively. Helped gut out a win in team's late morning game on Saturday.     Another combo guard for Nikia Untied that impacted throughout during team's early evening game on Saturday. Possesses a high motor and is equipped with shot making ability. Lefty splashed home at least 3 3's in rhythm with confidence. Also adds in mid range game off the bounce. Runs the floor with great pace throughout and stayed active defensively. Sprints off turnovers to continue to apply pressure on defense in primary phase. Makes selfless plays. Scored 17 in a fast paced game and helped team to a 4-0 weekend.     Trevino impacts the game as both a scorer and playmaker with the ball in his hands while remaining tough in multiple other facets. Watched late morning Sunday game and he finished consistently in transition while attacking aggressively off the bounce to draw contact. Converted on multiple tough takes through the lane while continuing to be versatile. Showed mid range game from 12 feet and off catch and shoot opportunities. Rebounded it from the guard spot as well. Plays with a competitive demeanor to help making winning plays. Led team high with 15.     Watching Tyler play in late morning game on Sunday and had a motor. Tallied 4 3's throughout the contest off catch and shoot opportunities. Made a hard cut off the ball for retrieval and1 and went off a ball screen to knock down a 17 foot jumper. Also had a runner in the lane and a reversal layup off a back door cut. Affects the game more than scoring. Crashes the offensive glass for second chance opps and continued to stay aggressive defensively. Likes his attributes he brings to the table and led with a game high 21.
