Phenom 252 Showcase: Early Saturday Standouts

We're in the legendary area code that is the 252 this weekend at the Rocky Mount Sports and Events Center for the Phenom 252 Showcase as there's a ton of talent on display from all around the State of North Carolina and beyond. We'll have coverage all weekend long but we'll get things started right now with the early Saturday Standouts!    Barber had his high level vision on full display for this BCB Select Black group to get the morning session started and he made it a point to get all of his teammates involved in the game early and often. Barber plays the game with great pace, feel, and a naturally unselfish approach that allows him to be a really solid addition to any backcourt. He was able to call his own number and score it as well but he's out there to make high level plays for his teammates and does his best to put them in the best spots to succeed. He looks comfortable with this group and is looking like a guy that should land in the rankings the next time we update 2027 while making his case as a next level prospect.     Now onto Plummer, his teammate who shot the ball with a ton of confidence in both early games for this BCB Select Black Team as he is a key part of what they do. Plummer's deep range, confidence, and ability to utilize his athleticism on the defensive end of the floor, make him a useful two way piece in the backcourt that seems to be turning the corner in his development. He's got solid positional size and is capable enough off the bounce to attack a closeout and make a play for himself or a teammate. Plummer is making his next level case as he stacks up these strong performances and will surely find himself amongst the ranked in our next 2027 update.     Moses is running with a local team this weekend in Team Who Want It and was a man on a mission in their first game of the day as he was getting downhill whenever he wanted. He finished with a game high 26 points as his on ball creation skills were on full display, showcasing improved confidence in his ability to break defenders down off the bounce. Moses was active on the glass and using his frame to bully the opposition on his drives when needed. Moses is a super interesting prospect in this stacked 2028 class here in North Carolina and it's always great to see a reminder of what makes him such a high level prospect.     Duke had a strong start to the 252 Showcase on Saturday morning with his high level perimeter shot making on full display. In their first game of the weekend, Duke hit five triples en route to a 15 point performance and a big win to get everything started for this Smoove City Heat team out of Roanoke Rapids. Duke has deep range and a ton of confidence in his ability to hit shots from beyond the arc and he did it all within the flow of the offense. He proved to have the ability to help swing this game for his team all while providing scrappiness on the defensive end on the perimeter. Look for Duke to continue stacking big games with this Smoove City Heat team as he looks to make a big step as a Senior next season at Roanoke Rapids.     Louis is a smart and skilled young point guard prospect that had a really strong start to the weekend with BCB Select 15u in their opening round win. Louis displayed the ability to make shots from beyond the arc, operate on the ball with good decision making, and doing it all while under complete control + within the flow of the offense. Louis is undersized but doesn't let that hold his game back, he can get by defenders, and provide a ton of spacing with his shooting. He competes defensively without getting himself out of position and does a great job helping this team run their stuff. Look out for Louis as a PG that will bloom down the line as he's showing excellent promise in 15u play.     Chalk helped this [program_tooltip program_id='2078529' first='Strong' last='Center'] team to a 17u Championship this weekend and had a strong start by providing this team production in the scoresheet and on the glass in their first game and win of the weekend. Chalk is a guy that is willing to do whatever is asked of him on that given possession as he's always looking to work on the glass, get put backs, and finish around the rim. He's shown some touch and skill to his game as well with that helping give this team even more options offensively. Chalk's calling card is without a doubt his motor and ability to provide this team with a physical edge at both ends of the floor. He had a solid season last year at Panther Creek and poised for a real step up in production for that group next year as he should find himself amongst the ranked in the next update.
