Live Period Preview: 2027 Guards Ready to Climb

<h3 class="wp-block-heading"></h3>    Williams makes the game look easy. Everything feels smooth and under control when the ball is in his hands. He owns a quick first step attacking downhill and explodes off the floor with little to no gather needed. Carmelo is an outstanding second leaper, springing back up instantly for rebounds, tip balls and finishes around the rim. His bounce paired with his timing allows him to compete well above his size.   What stands out most is his ability to manipulate defenders. Williams changes speeds naturally and knows how to bait defenders into awkward positions where they either surrender angles or foul him outright. He consistently gets to the foul line because of how well he plays through contact and controls tempo when driving. Defensively, his effort level remains high and his athleticism allows him to challenge shots against bigger opponents.     Allen plays at full speed and pressures defenses with his pace. The quick playmaker thrives getting downhill where he excels as a drive-and-kick creator. Ethan sees the floor well and consistently looks to involve teammates once he penetrates the paint. He keeps the ball moving and brings energy to the offense every possession.   Defensively, Allen is a pesky on-ball defender who competes hard and forces turnovers with his activity. He stays aggressive pressuring ball handlers and creates havoc with his quickness. While his facilitating ability stands out first, Ethan continues showing flashes of scoring upside as well. He stepped up offensively throughout his junior season and proved capable of creating his own buckets when needed.     Jones attacks with aggression every time he touches the ball. The explosive guard gets downhill in a hurry and uses his burst to pressure defenses at the rim. Once he gets into the paint, Langston leans heavily on his floater game which has become one of his signature weapons. He finishes creatively with either hand and embraces contact attacking bigger defenders.   Defenders also can't sag off him because he stretches the floor effectively with his three-point shooting. That combination of downhill pressure and perimeter scoring makes him difficult to contain. After an explosive junior season averaging close to 19 points per game, Jones enters the live period as one of the more dangerous scoring guards ready to elevate his recruitment.     Griffin continues proving he's much more than just a scorer. The reigning Region 3-4A Player of the Year is quietly developing into one of the more complete guards in the class. Tyler is a sneaky good playmaker who consistently keeps his head up attacking the basket. He willingly creates for teammates before hunting his own offense and understands how to manipulate defenses once he gets downhill.   Griffin uses long strides and crafty footwork to navigate traffic while his tight handle allows him to shake aggressive defenders. He's equally comfortable knocking down threes or finishing at the rim with either hand. After posting over 28 points per game during an All-State junior campaign, Griffin enters the live period with major momentum and plenty of attention already heading his direction.     Denson thrives operating out of high ball screens. The physically strong guard does an excellent job reading defenders and making quick decisions with the basketball. Bryson loves pulling up from three over the top of screens, but he's equally capable of delivering passes to rollers and finding open teammates once the defense collapses.   His balance and strength allow him to absorb contact when attacking downhill and still get to his spots comfortably. Denson's versatility gives him the ability to play either guard position while impacting the game as both a scorer and facilitator. Fresh off winning Region Player of the Year honors as a junior, Bryson looks poised for a big live period.
