Great Lakes Region Finals: 2028 Watchlist Floor Generals

The Prep Hoops Great Lakes Region Finals was back in Chicagoland this past weekend. From high flying dunks to buzzer beating game winners, there was plenty of bright action that took place at this always competitive event. Over 200 teams took the floor in the 15U, 16U, and 17U divisions who tried to secure a first place finish in their respective brackets. In this article well take a more detailed look at a handful of under the radar 2028 point guards that are unranked but should be on coach's watch lists over this summer and next season as these guys head into their junior year. Let's dive in!    Saw Schroll play in team's first game of weekend on Friday. Quick and selfless floor facilitator. Defensively tallied at least a half dozen turnovers he caused within passing lanes or defending on the ball. Was relentless using anticipation and awareness to advantage on the defensive end. On the offensive side he made smart iq drive and dish reads while funding cutters underneath. Efficient scorer around the rim for size while adding some spot up shooting beyond the arc. A rounded and balanced productive primary handler.     Showcases immediate ball handling skills with quick first step burst and ability to change speeds on the go. Plays fast in transition to speed game up and finishes effectively on breakaways. Adds plus playmaking ability with court vision and dish offs in the lane. Spotted up for a couple catch and shoot 3's in team's first game of weekend on Friday night. Like the overall activity with a toughness mentality.     Watched Belleu play in team's first game of weekend. Showed shot making ability and confidence from 3 with coming off a flare screen and burying one and another spot up with a hand up. Handles with hard quick disciplined dribbles while changing speeds to manipulate defense. Creates in tight driving lanes. Provided a great give and go assist to roll man off of ball screen and another strong assist leading runner in transition for bucket. Overall orchestrates offense as a true lead facilitator.     Wofford speeded the game up in a big way during mid Saturday morning contest. Created offense with pace, instinct, and transition playmaking ability. Generated multiple steals that turned into quick offensive opportunities. Finds open guys on primary break for pitch aheads or assists in the open floor. In the ½ court setting will set up shooters nicely off of drive and kick reads. Shows an aggressive downhill mentality while pushing tempo as a true point.     True floor facilitator that also adds a scoring punch to game. Caught squads last contest of the weekend and he helped control pace with some really great spray out passes from inside to out as well as smart drop off reads. Scoring wise he created scoring opportunities in mid range game while converting on cuts through the lane and a smooth spin move off the bounce. Helps secure boards from the guard location and competed with solid on-ball pressure defensively. Provided plus energy assisting team to a 3-1 weekend finish.
