Great Lakes Finals: Tough Bucket Getters

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>In this article, I feature five tough bucket-getters that I saw this past Saturday at the Prep Hoops Great Lakes Finals. I will also be coming out with additional articles in the coming days, including more tough bucket-getters and other high-impact prospects.<br></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='2961051' first='Kennen' last='Pearson'] (pictured)&nbsp;-&nbsp;&nbsp;<a href="https://prephoops.com/program/illinois-express/">[program_tooltip program_id='2961389' first='Illinois' last='Express']</a>&nbsp;(17U) - [player_tooltip player_id='2961051' first='Kennen' last='Pearson'] punched home one of the dunks of the weekend on Saturday. He caused a turnover around midcourt, and from there, took it all the way to the rack and slammed it home with authority as a defender tried to meet him at the rim, drawing a foul and earning a trip to the free throw line. It was a very impressive sequence, and it gave his team the momentum needed to close out the game. I also saw him making plays on the defensive end, altering shots, and high-pointing rebounds. Overall, he has a lot of the tools you look for, along with some strong instincts.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Maurice Oglesby - Flight (17U) - Maurice Oglesby is a high IQ and gritty player on offense. He has good pace, which helps him get to his spots, and from there he can elevate for jumpers. He was connecting on threes and tough finishes throughout the game. It's great to see that he's able to score in a variety of ways, and he was also competing with intensity on the defensive end.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Michael Roache - Over The Edge (17U) - Michael Roche gets plenty of paint touches on the offensive end when he gets downhill. He utilizes his acceleration and ability to change direction to shake defenders. He dropped in a number of close-range shots and consistently got to the cup. Roche is also a quick player who covers ground at a rapid rate on the defensive end, and he will contribute on the glass as well.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Josiah Perez - Flight (17U) - Josiah Perez was another tough bucket-getter for Flight 17U at the Prep Hoops Great Lakes Finals. He is the type of player who goes up with power and can score through contact. From there, he is also able to get to the free throw line. In addition to his scoring, he can extend possessions by grabbing offensive rebounds. When it comes to his defense, he utilizes his length and athleticism to guard his matchup, and he can be disruptive when he gets up in their grill.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='2431475' first='David' last='Udoiwod'] - I88 (17U) - [player_tooltip player_id='2431475' first='David' last='Udoiwod'] a very crafty scorer on the offensive end. He utilizes his tight handles and burst to get to where he wants to go. He converted on some really tough, contested layups and was also draining shots from downtown. I also liked the way that he got after it on the defensive end, and he had a lot to do with I88's late Saturday afternoon win.<br><br><br></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
