This is the 4th version of the Class of 2027 Player Rankings, with the first two rounds of player rankings for this class located at the Nothing But Net Magazine website, and the last round here at Prep Hoops. I have updated this list to include the 2025-2026 high school basketball season and postseason, as well as the Spring portion of the club season. I have expanded this list from 30 to 50 players from around the Central Section. This list of players was compiled using my own evaluations, along with feedback from knowledgeable media, coaches, and other relevant basketball personnel from the Section, to make up the top 50 junior prospects for this updated round of player rankings for the 2027 Class. However, the order of players on this list is my own. This list takes into consideration two key factors in determining where players are ranked, and will be the same criteria used each time this list is updated. The criteria for these rankings are as follows: current skill level and production on the court, as well as future projection at the collegiate level. Below are the next 10 players of these players rankings, broken up into two parts, and will be followed by the next 10 players, #21-#30. In this article, you will find the following information: current rank, their previous rank in parentheses, the player's name, height, player position, and current school they are attending. I know some of the players on this list will be,or are already at different schools, but I will update that in the next round of these player rankings. We begin this updated list with wing/slasher Gio Fomusoh.

16 (29) [player_tooltip player_id='2932172' first='Giovanni' last='Fomusoh'] (6'3 | WG) - Centennial (Bakersfield CA)

Fomusoh moves into the top 20 of this updated list of players and comes in at #16. Fomusoh made major strides in his game this past season, as he displayed high-level two-way skills to impact both ends of the court, averaging 12 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 3.3 steals per game, helping his team win the SWRL title and a spot in the D1 Section playoffs, as well as 1st Team All-South Yosemite River League honors. Fomusoh has a long wingspan, active hands, and quick feet to stay in front of perimeter players, gets into their dribbling space, and has the timing and instincts to poke the ball out, deflect passes, or jump passing lanes, turning defense to offense routinely. Fomusoh is active on the glass, either pushes the ball off the glass or outlets the ball to get up the floor, excels in the open court to get ahead of the defense, and has great hands to receive passes up the court with touch on finishes in transition. Fomusoh has the handle to create off the wing, gets into the paint, is effective with the mid-range pull-up jumper, and is a creative scorer around the basket with the Euro-step, reverse, and up-and-under lay-ups to evade shot blockers. He is an underrated rim protector, can alter shots on the perimeter, and will be part of the core returners that will look to lead the G-Hawks to another league title and the D1 playoffs.

17 (NR) Demaje Riley (5'10 | CG) - Tulare Union (CA)

Making his debut in this list of player rankings and coming off winning a Section title and a run to the final four of the D4 state playoffs is Demaje Riley at #17. Riley is one of the top multi-sports athletes in the Section and was a huge reason the Tribe won its league and the D3 Section title, with averages of 17 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals per game to showcase his two-way skill set, was named 1st Team All-West Yosemite League, and earned Player of the Game honors in the D3 Section title game with 25 points. Riley has solid handles, shifty moves to create off the dribble, using the crossover, spin-move, hesitation, and behind-cross to create space from his defender, gets good lift on the mid-range jumper with body control in the air, and is a creative scorer at the basket, with use of the Euro-step, reverse, and up-and-under lay-ups, as well as the floater down the lane. Riley moves well off the ball, finds the corner spot, and is accurate with the 3-ball off the catch to open up the court for driving lanes to attack. Riley is an elite on-ball defender, has active hands, good instincts, and timing to jump passing lanes, deflect entry passes, or poke the ball out to get out in transition for easy baskets. Riley has committed to Fresno State for football and has had a great track and field season in the long jump, but he can flat out hoop and is a player that can score in volume, putting up points quickly with his ability to connect on the 3-ball.

18 (29) [player_tooltip player_id='3269168' first='Grant' last='Hyde'] (6'4 | WG) - Central Valley Christian (Visalia CA)

Hyde moves up 11 spots and breaks into the top 20 in this updated list, coming in at #18. Hyde was a critical piece for the Cavs this season, helping CVC win its league outright, earning the #2 seed and eventually a spot in the D3 Section title game. Hyde put up impressive numbers this season, averaging 14 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 steals per game, earning 1st Team All-Tri-County-Kings Canyon League honors, and was named the runner-up MVP in the D3 Section championship game. Hyde has the perimeter skills to create off the wing, using the crossover, spin-move, hesitation, and between-cross to get space from his defender, is accurate with the jumper off the bounce from the mid-range to the 3-point line, and is a crafty scorer around the basket to evade shot blockers in the paint. Hyde has good interior moves, uses the spin-move to separate from his post defender, has a smooth face-up mid-post jumper, is active on the boards, and has the court vision to make reads from the top of the key, from the post, or off the drive and kick pass. Hyde will be part of a returning core that will add a few talented 2029 prospects to add depth and scoring, which should make CVC the team to beat in its league.

19 (23) [player_tooltip player_id='3638401' first='Caiden' last='Jackson'] (6'1 | PG) - Bakersfield Christian (CA)

Jackson moves up 4 spots and into the top 20 for this updated list and lands at #19. Jackson has established himself as one of the premier perimeter defenders over the past two seasons, really holding true to that this past season, and has made major strides as a play maker at the lead guard spot. Jackson averaged 8 points, 5 assists, and 2.4 steals per game, and earned 1st Team All-South Yosemite Valley League honors taking over the point guard role this year. Jackson has a strong handle on the ball, uses the crossover, behind-cross, toss-cross, hesitation, and spin-move to create space from his defender, keeps his head on a swivel to find open teammates, and has good court vision and decision making off the drive and kick pass, out of the pick and roll action, or ahead to open players in transition. Jackson is a crafty scorer at the basket, gets good lift with improving efficiency from the mid-range to the 3-point line off the dribble, and moves well off the ball to get open looks off the catch. Jackson has active hands, good instincts, timing, and lateral quickness to stay in his opponents dribbling space, looks to poke the ball out or deflect entry passes, or jump passing lanes to generate steals. Jackson will have some additional help this coming season with sophomore RJ Shehee transferring from Bakersfield High, but Jackson's defense will still be the focal point of his importance to the Eagles.

20 (28) Dominic Johnson (5'11 | PG) - Frontier (Bakersfield CA)

Rounding out and breaking into the Top 20 is standout lead guard Dom Johnson of Frontier. Johnson had to carry the scoring load for the Titans this season, who graduated major pieces from its league winning team last season, including the program's all-time leading scorer Zach Garnett, and he really embraced that role, with only one other teammate scoring in double-digits a game. Johnson put up great numbers this season, averaging 18 points, 4 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 3.4 steals per game, earned 1st Team All-South Yosemite River League honors, and set the single game scoring high of 42 points against Stockdale of Bakersfield to etch his name in the Frontier record books. Johnson has dynamic handles, shifty moves to create space from his defender, using the crossover, behind-cross, toss-cross, hesitation, spin-move, and between-cross to get his defender off balance, is an effective 3-level scorer, with accuracy from the mid-range to the 3-point line off the bounce, and is a creative scorer around the basket, with the Euro-step, reverse or up-and-under lay-ups, and use of the floater to score over height in the paint. Johnson is an underrated on-ball defender with active hands, quick foot-speed, and instincts to poke the ball out, jump passing lanes, or rip the ball from opposing guards, turning defense to offense, and getting easy points in transition. He has great court vision and decision making with the ball in his hands, makes tough reads off the drive and kick or out of the pick and roll action, and is looking to have an MVP type senior season.
