This is the 4th version of the Class of 2027 Player Rankings, with the first two rounds of player rankings for this class located at the Nothing But Net Magazine website, and the last round here at Prep Hoops. I have updated this list to include the 2025-2026 high school basketball season and postseason, as well as the Spring portion of the club season. I have expanded this list from 30 to 50 players from around the Central Section. This list of players was compiled using my own evaluations, along with feedback from knowledgeable media, coaches, and other relevant basketball personnel from the Section, to make up the top 50 junior prospects for this updated round of player rankings for the 2027 Class. However, the order of players on this list is my own. This list takes into consideration two key factors in determining where players are ranked, and will be the same criteria used each time this list is updated. The criteria for these rankings are as follows: current skill level and production on the court, as well as future projection at the collegiate level. Below are the last10 players of these players rankings, #41 to 50, and will be followed by the updated player rankings for the Classes of 2028 and 2029 by the end of June. In this article, you will find the following information: current rank, their previous rank in parentheses, the player's name, height, player position, and current school they are attending. I know some of the players on this list will be, or are already, at different schools, but I will update that in the next round of these player rankings. We begin this updated list with Melkon Oganesyan.

41 (NR) Melkon Oganesyan (6'6 | PF) - Justin Garza (Fresno CA)

Oganesyan makes his debut on this list of player rankings and comes in at #41. Oganesyan provided the interior presence for the Guardians this season, and became more of a force to score in the paint as the season progressed, with good size and length to get his shots off over height at the basket. Oganesyan crashes the boards on both ends, gets easy tip-in put-backs off the glass, has the wingspan and timing to alter/block shots in the paint, as well as the lateral agility to close out on perimeter shooters, runs the floor well to get ahead of the defense for passes up the court, and has the height and length to hold up against taller players, and the lateral footwork to stay in front of perimeter players. Oganesyan does a solid job of sealing his defender off and getting open on the pick and roll action.

42 (28) Darryus Johnson (6'6 | PF) - Central East (Fresno CA)

Johnson comes in at #42 in this updated list, moving down 14 spots from the previous list. Johnson is a physical and lengthy forward that is relentless on the boards, gets easy points off putbacks, alters shots in the paint, has the build to hold up against taller players, deflects entry passes to the post to create turnovers, and runs the floor well in transition to get ahead of the defense. Johnson finds holes in the defense to get open in the dunker spot, seals his defender off in the pick and roll action to get open on the dive to the basket, and has a lot of untapped talent with the build that is preferred at the next level of play.

43 (23) Cameron Hernandez (5'11 | SG) - South Bakersfield (CA)

Dropping in at #43 is the sharp shooting Cam Hernandez, moving out of the top 25 for now, but will have a chance to jump back up, given he will be one of if not the Spartan's leading scorer next season. Hernandez averaged nearly 9 points and 2 steals per game, and was South Bakersfield's top 3-point shooter that helped his team win the SYML title. Hernandez moves fluidly off the ball, gets to his shot spots, has a smooth release on the jumper, and is accurate with the 3-ball off the catch. Hernandez has solid handles, the moves to create off the dribble, gets into the paint with touch on the floater, as well as crafty ways to score around height at the basket, and is effective with the pull-up mid-range jumper. Hernandez has active hands and good instincts to poke the ball out, deflect passes on the wing, and jump passing lanes to get out in transition and get easy buckets. Hernandez will be called upon to step his scoring up this coming season, as the Spartans graduated its top 3 scorers from this season.

44 (25) [player_tooltip player_id='2952875' first='Davion' last='Cockheran'] (6'2 | CG) - Central East (Fresno CA)

Cockheran comes in at #44 in this updated list, moving out of the top 30. Cockheran had planned on transferring to Garza of Fresno, but returned back to Central East before the school year started, and, given that the Bengals had a rough season, I only saw Central East in person one time and he did not play much in that game. Nevertheless, Cockheran has the skills and quality guard play to move himself back up this list if he can have a standout senior season. Cockheran has a strong handle on the ball, moves to create off the perimeter, gets into the paint routinely, has the strength to score through contact when attacking the basket, is effective with the mid-range jumper, and can space the floor with the 3-ball off the dribble or the catch. He is a tough on-ball defender, gets into his opponents dribble space to force bad decisions and turnovers, and is a good positional rebounder.

45 (NR) Colton Mott (5'11 | PG) - Mission Prep (San Luis Obispo CA)

Mott makes his debut on this list of player rankings and drops in at #45. Mott is a true play maker and point guard that has the court vision and decision making to run the offense, finds open teammates off the drive and kick pass, up the court in transition, and out of the pick and roll action to his big man diving to the basket. Mott moves well off the ball, is effective with the 3-ball off the catch, and is a crafty scorer around the basket. Mott is a tough perimeter defender, gets into his opponents dribble space, and has active hands to deflect passes or poke the ball out. Mott will be tasked with running the offense next season and is looking to get the Royals back to one of the teams to beat in Division 2.

46 (NR) Hunter Isaac (6'5 | WF) - Clovis (CA)

Making his first appearance on this list of player rankings at #46 is Hunter Isaac. Isaac is a versatile forward that can run the floor in the open court and play with pace, as well as operate in the paint in the half court setting. Isaac is active on the boards, gets easy points off put-backs, has the wingspan and timing to alter shots in the paint, has good touch on shots around the basket, and moves well off the ball to find openings in the defense, getting to the dunker spot for catch and score opportunities. Isaac does a good job of sealing off his defender on screens, has good body control and timing on the dive out of the pick and roll action, and is able to connect on the face-up jumper off the dribble. Isaac will be a key factor for the Cougars this coming season, as he provides versatility and impacts both ends of the court.

47 (NR) Miles Tucker (5'10 | SG) - Clovis North (Fresno CA)

Tucker comes in at #47 as he debuts on this list of player rankings, cracking the top 50. Tucker made major strides in his game this season for the Broncos, and was one of its main threats to space the floor from beyond the arc. Miles has solid handles, shifty moves to get his defender off balance, improved play making and court vision to find open teammates off the drive and kick pass or finding teammates in transition play, has active hands on defense to poke the ball out or jump passing lanes, and gets to the 3-point line in transition to spot up for the 3-ball. Tucker moves fluidly off the ball, gets to his shot spots, and lights out from beyond the arc with the range on the deep ball. Tucker's roll will likely expand this coming season, as the Broncos graduate its two top scorers, which accounted for a large portion of the team's points this year.

48 (NR) Francisco Cruz (6' | CG) - Mira Monte (Bakersfield CA)

Coming in at #48 and making his first appearance on this list is Francisco Cruz. Cruz had a stellar junior season for the Lions, who split the SYHL title behind his 16 points and 5 rebounds per game, earning him South Yosemite Horizon League co-Most Valuable Player honors. Cruz has solid handles, is able to create his own shot off the dribble, moves well off the ball to get open looks off the catch, has the court vision to find open teammates moving off the ball, and is a good positional rebounder. Cruz will be relied upon to lead the Lions his senior season and this year prepared him for that responsibility.

49 (NR) John Trichell (6'1 | CG) - Garces Memorial (Bakersfield CA)

Making his debut to this list of player rankings is John Trichell, coming in at #49. Trichell has good handles to control the flow of the game, has the court vision to find open teammates off the drive and kick pass, or out of the pick and roll action, gets into the paint to draw in the defense for outlet passes, is a good positional rebounder, and can connect on the 3-ball off the catch. Trichell will likely have some welcomed help on the court next season and will help the Rams with a true lead guard.

50 (26) AJ Pedro (5'9 | SG) - Clovis (CA)

Rounding out the Top 50 is the sharp shooter from Clovis, Pedro. Pedro is a lights out shooter from beyond the arc with range from deep, has improved as a play maker with good decision making and the court vision to find open teammates, off the drive and kick pass or to teammates cutting off the ball, as well as in transition to players ahead of the defense. Pedro has developed the moves to create off the dribble, gets to the mid-range jumper, and is a creative scorer over height in the paint, using the reverse lay-up or floater. Where he is still most lethal is the 3-ball off the catch, where he moves fluidly off the ball to get to his shot spots, and can light it up from distance off the catch to score in volume.
