[player_tooltip player_id='2714701' first='Houston' last='Brown'], Volcano Vista: One of the unsung heroes of Volcano Vista's state championship run. His job for the Hawks was to distribute the basketball to the scorers, score when given the opportunity, rebound and play strong defense. He excelled in all those areas. In the 5A state championship game, he scored 5 points, hit a 3-pointer, grabbed 4 rebounds and dished out 2 assists. Brown drew SEVEN fouls in the semifionals.

[player_tooltip player_id='2839414' first='Dashon' last='Bynum'], Rio Rancho: Another unsung hero for his team. The athletic Bynum averaged close to 10 points and 4 rebounds per game for the talented Rams, who earned the No. 3 seed for the 5A state tournament. Raised eyebrows by scoring 22 points in a win over Volcano Vista in January. Excellent distributor of the basketball.

[player_tooltip player_id='2839393' first='Taivian' last='Callado'], Santa Fe Indian: If you ranked the top high school basketball players in Santa Fe, Callado would belong in the top five. He's a talented combo guard for the Braves. Skilled scorer and an aggressive defender. Scored 18 points in the quarterfianls win over Navajo Prep. He surpassed the 1,000-point career plateau in early 2026 and was named First Team All-District.

Myles Candeleria, Tohatchi: Often playing alongside his older brother Myka, Candeleria averaged over 14 points and 4 rebounds per game in helping lead the Cougars to the 3A quarterfinals, where they ran into eventual champion Tohatchi. Shot an impressive 61 percent from the field. Scored 14 points in Tohatchi's first-round tourney win over NMMI.

[player_tooltip player_id='2839464' first='Javid' last='Cordova'], West Las Vegas: Led the Dons in scoring by averaging about 16 points per game. Emerged as one of the top scorers and a rising talent in northern New Mexico. Shot 48 percent from the field. Scored 23 points against 3A power Cobre in December. Scored 34 points on 15-of-22 shooting against ATATC in February. Will again likely have a significant role next season on what should be an improved WLV team.
