Lonestar State Showdown: 16U High-Impact Contributors

I love to see a player elevate their team in a myriad of different ways. The student athletes below made great decisions and high impact plays all weekend long.    Vincent is an excellent distributor with a great eye for where all of his teammates are at on the floor at all times. He's entirely unselfish and has no problem passing up a decent shot for himself for a great shot somewhere else. He's incredibly active on the glass on both ends - making him one of those high-rebounding guards that I love to see. He's fantastic under pressure with his decision-making and calm, collected approach to making the right play every time. He's a marksman from beyond the arc and can get on streaks that leave his opponents desperate and on their heels. He sets great picks for his shot creators and isn't afraid to sacrifice his body. Santana is a winning player that elevates everyone around him on the floor.     Moses has a large, solid frame that he uses to dominate the paint and impose his will on the opposition. He's a great finisher at the rim and he has fantastic hands for a big man. He's an absolute beast on the offensive glass and it's not a surprise to see him get second, third, and even fourth possessions at times. His up-court passing is extremely solid - once he secures the glass defensively, he seems to immediately know where to go with the ball sometimes before his feet even touch the floor again. He's incredibly physical down low and usually beats his opponent based on his strength alone.     Elijah is a fantastic passer with great vision and awareness on both ends of the floor. He has great anticipation and can intercept opposing passing lanes with ease on his way to another fast break bucket. He attracts plenty of attention and creates a nice amount of space on his drives for his teammates which allows him to kick it out for high-percentage shots consistently. He's an excellent finisher inside and doesn't flinch from contact of any sort. He has a wonderful touch on his shot that has him winning the bunce more often times than not. He has a fantastic handle with nice footwork to match and if there's a loose ball anywhere, he's going to be the first on the floor to get after it.     Taylen is unbelievably fast when he gets downhill and he's got an elite handle to navigate any opposing defenders that think they can stop him. He's incredibly physical and he's not afraid to sacrifice his body on either end of the court. His vision is fantastic and he makes some beautiful arching outlet passes to teammates streaking ahead with no defenders in sight. He's a talented finisher inside and he never shies from physicality. He always knows where his big men are and he's an excellent communicator - consistently talking and leading on defense and openly receiving feedback from his coach on the sideline.     Jabari is a fierce defender who seems to make all the right plays on both ends of the floor. He has a solid ballhandling ability and can get to the rim whenever needed. He's an elite distributor and knows where his fellow scorers are at all times. His IQ is sky high, and it shows through his decision-making and the way he consistently communicates with his teammates throughout the game. He has no problem hanging with the opposition's best player for the length of the court and he seems to seek out those opportunities. Onzati is a winner that makes everybody around him better.
